Located at the end of a quiet country lane, our contemporary barn conversion is an ideal holiday escape. Situated in the heart of the East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with stunning scenery and easy access to the dramatic beaches of the Jurassic Coast, a World Heritage Site.
The open plan living area on the first-floor is brightly decorated with oak-flooring; stylish furniture creates a cosy seating area around a wood-burner and the TV. Gather around the large kitchen table, seating six, which has beautiful views over our fields through full-height windows. Our modern kitchen is fully equipped with large-larder fridge, dishwasher, electric hob and oven.
On the ground floor, the three bedrooms all have views across the fields and down to the woodland. The master bedroom has a King size bed and an en-suite bathroom and the other double bedded room has access to the terrace through French doors. This and the twin-bedded room share the main bathroom. Both bathrooms are fully-tiled as ‘wet rooms’ with shower.
All bedlinen is provided, Devon Wool duvets and 100% cotton sheets and covers, kitchen linen, Ecover dishwasher tablets and liquid.
There is a bbq on the terrace, table-tennis table and a ‘tree swing’ in the home field. There are long and short walks all around the farm.
We allow visitors to swim in our pool, which is in our orchard garden, between 4 and 6pm; it is a deep pool and not suitable for non-swimmer and children must be accompanied by an adult in the water at all times. We can arrange bike hire in Colyton and horse-riding nearby. Tennis courts are located in Colyton and there are excellent golf courses in the area.
We manage our farm under the Countryside Stewardship scheme, which ensures that birds and wildlife flourish and we have an abundance of native wildflowers including orchids. We keep traditional breeds of Red Ruby Devon Cattle and Black Welsh Mountain Sheep providing meat in season and our free range hens give us eggs most days!
This part of East Devon has a wonderful varied coastline stretching from Charmouth to Budleigh Salterton and day trips to North Devon for surfing the beautiful beaches of Staunton and Croyde are always worthwhile. We are a short drive from the wild spectacular Dartmoor National Park with its rugged granite tors and the historic cathedral city of Exeter is just half an hour away. There are many great National Trust Houses within easy reach and our area is famous for gardens to visit including the outstanding ‘Newt ‘at Bruton in Somerset.
We can recommend a growing number of small local restaurants and cafes and the area boasts several ‘Michelin star’ offerings - Mark Hix in Lyme Regis, Micheal Caine’s Lymptone Manor, as well as the fabulous The Pig at Combe and The River Cottage Canteen and Park Farm in Axminster, both very nearby.
