"We loved absolutely everything about this hotel. It's the perfect spot for skiing with everything you could possibly need located centrally. The team were extremely helpful in the leadup to our holiday and very prompt at replying to any questions I had and arranging transfers, ski equipment and passes. "Quad room great for families. Staff lovely and helpful. Good location to get the lifts up to Bettex and Saint Gervais town, which is very pretty. Only things I would change, offer more or larger pillows and replenish breakfast items. We often ate at 9 and things were running out. "

"We only booked as the hotel was pet friendly, as per the description and information. We checked in with our dog and agreed to eat in the restaurant, after some pressure from the hotel to do so. "We had a lovely stay in the 2 bedroom apartment on the top floor of the residence. We picked a Mountain View and it was a stunning view over the mountains! The sofa bed in the apartment was very large and comfortable and so were the beds. Very bijou kitchen but was fine if not cooking much. Could have benefited from an oven. Had a Spar supermarket below but limited choice and quite expensive. Could have helped if the residence had its own bar and restaurant. Not sure it felt like a five star rated hotel. The area itself in April wasn’t brilliant for ski in ski out but I expect much better in peak season. We managed to ski out but not back as this lift was closed. The free shuttle bus was on time but was absolutely crammed full of people, even to the point you couldn’t get on when returning from the slopes to the hotel. A good 10-15 min walk into the main area of Flaine. We found it to be a little disappointing for places to eat or bars to have a drink. We ended up at the Rockypop hotel every evening for a drink. Not great for Apre ski if that is what you are after Or gourmet dining. Very limited choice."

"Basic, be prepared to make your own beds (linen provided but double bed’s flat sheet was too small), and clean the apartment. Limited toilet paper and no toiletries. Ski locker corridor, cold swimming pool. Good location, next to Flaine Forêt ski lifts. There is a spar and ski rental, esf ski lesson shop within 5 mins walk."

Dormio Resort Les Portes du Grand Massif

Poor service and communication

"No joining instructions were sent prior to arrival. The resort had no idea of the booking because it was a private apartment rented out on Hotels.com by another company. I had to call to get someone to tell me how to gain access to the apartment. The resort were going to charge me for parking but I showed that the listing stated parking was included. When we got into the apartment there were no towels or bedding. Had to call again. Was told that the listing stated that this was not included. That is not true. I had to go to the resort and ask to rent towels and bedding which cost an additional EU 47 and I had to pay a cash deposit (which I did not have). Then during the stay the hot water tank started making loud noises all night that kept us awake. In the morning the tank had leaked water all over the floor. I turned the electricity supply to the tank off for safety reasons. Informed the management company about the problem. They did not respond. Left very disappointed with the entire experience. This is the worst experience I have had in the many hotels.com bookings I have had over many years. "
