Located north of the city center, El Brillante is one of Córdoba’s larger neighborhoods. It is primarily residential, with many schools and facilities. From here visit one of Córdoba’s top natural attractions, Cuesta del Reventon.
Because it is a residential suburb, El Brillante provides all the comforts of regular suburban life. This includes parks, a sports complex and restaurants. Enjoy a meal in one of the many bakeries or cafés before beginning your ascent to Las Ermitas or cool down with a drink on your way back.
Las Ermitas is a group of 13 hermitages formerly used by hermits who wanted to live an alternative lifestyle. View the impressive assortment of chapels and monuments for yourself by hiking or biking along the nature trail. Opening hours change throughout the year. The site has a small entrance fee.
Cuesta del Reventon is the 1.7-mile (2.7-kilometer) route that leads to Las Ermitas. Reach the start of the route by driving or hiking. The route itself is best explored on foot or by bike. Witness the finest panoramic view of Córdoba and its surroundings when you reach the highest point. By night it is just as beautiful and even more romantic. Many regular bus routes connect the city with the El Brillante area. The ride will take between 20 and 30 minutes.
Neighboring suburbs include Asomadilla and El Tablero, which are both very friendly to families. In Asomadilla find Parque de la Asomadilla, the second-largest park in Andalucía. Use its many sport facilities and children’s play areas. Take a walk and enjoy the Mediterranean plants and views of Córdoba. Watch the latest films in El Tablero’s movie theater, a perfect activity for a casual day or evening out.
If you’re looking for a neighborhood to relax in or near nature, El Brillante is ideal. Take a break from the tourist trail and try something new a comfortable distance from the city center.
