Comfy Mountain Top Home, Pet Friendly, Great Sunsets & Star Gazing from Hot Tub

TRILLIUM COTTAGE INFORMATION
Relax in our secluded, upscale, comfortable and well equipped 2 or 3 bedroom 2300 sq ft Trillium Cottage, located high (2600 ft) atop Renegade Mountain in Crossville, TN. Enjoy the rock fireplace and gas logs in the living room, the screened porch and and open rear porch with great views, and the great sunsets and star gazing you can watch while soaking in our large hot tub.

The base rate shown on Vrbo is for the two upstairs bedrooms, described below. There is an additional charge if you want to rent the separate downstairs bedroom. We do this because a lot of our guests don’t need the third bedroom and don’t want to pay for it. Be sure to carefully read the descriptions below, and call or email if you have any questions.

Our large kitchen is fully equipped for any meal or snack you want to prepare. There are two large bedrooms upstairs and an optional, amazing Coca-Cola bedroom downstairs. The large back yard features a large fire pit and a chair lift swing where you can enjoy the view while your worries simply melt away.

Our home is located 100 miles east of Nashville, 60 miles west of Knoxville, and 60 miles northwest of Chattanooga. We are centrally located for many major vacation destinations in the Southeast. Located just 5 miles off of I-40, you are only minutes away from Crossville, Fairfield Glade, the new Flat Rock Race Track, Lake Tansi, Cumberland Mountain State Park, Bear Trace, the Cumberland Hiking Trail, more than 10 great public golf courses, state parks, wineries, and antique and specialty stores in the Crossville area.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
Our rental rates reflect a base charge for four guests. Up to two additional children or adults who are willing to sleep upstairs will not be charged. Most guests do not want to pay for the downstairs Coca-Cola bedroom if they will not use it, even though it is one of the coolest rooms on the planet.

If you want to use only the upstairs, indicate that you have 1-4 guests. If you want to add our downstairs bedroom to your rental for $100 per night, indicate that you have 5 (only)guests. Do not enter a number higher than 5 or you will be charged a higher fee. If in doubt, please make an inquiry before booking our cottage.

Walking trails abound just outside our front and back doors. Do a lot, or do nothing. Either way you will love our comfortable cottage and our great location.

Trillium Cottage is actually the second home of John and Melanie Peters. We set it up to our personal standards, and now we offer to share it with you. We have not cut any corners in providing a memorable vacation experience for our guests. This is a non-smoking cabin. Pets are welcome if they are well behaved, up to date on all shots and medicines, and certified flea free. Unruly pets may be fed to the local bears.

The doors have combination locks, so check-in simply consists of arriving and entering, regardless of the hour (after 4:00 PM). Normal checkout time is 10:00 AM. There are two steps from the parking area to the porch and one step from the porch into the house. The rear porch is level with the living area and there are 12 steps down from the rear porch to the ground. The cabin is NOT considered handicap accessible, but there is a small ramp to access the kitchen area with only one small step to enter the house. If this is a problem for your stay, please cancel as soon as possible without penalty.

Our 2-3 BR, 3 bath home has a well furnished kitchen with a gas stove, gas oven, dishwasher, microwave, Keurig coffee maker (pods provided, if you like our choice), a kitchen bar for dining as well as a full dining room. My wife loves to cook and the kitchen is stocked with every imaginable utensil, pot and pan needed to prepare your favorite meals and desserts. We have a pantry (Owner's Cache) which has a number of spices and other items our guests can use if they are comfortable doing so.

The den is cozy and comfortable, with a stone fireplace, gas logs, leather sofa and recliners, and 65 inch flat screen TV connected to a Roku for your streaming pleasure. The partially screened rear porch runs the full width of the house with a magnificent view of the former Renegade Mountain Golf Course and nearby Black Mountain during every season of the year (except when the clouds roll in and visibility goes to zero). Sunsets are an incredible time of day and worth the entire price of your rental. The windows and doors are screened, although bugs are few and far between at the top of the mountain. Even on the hottest days air conditioning is rarely needed, but available for guests having hot flashes. The open front porch overlooks the driveway and parking area. You can sit in your rocking chair and count the cars that go by in a day in between naps, Normally this will not require using all of your fingers, and never requires all of your fingers and toes.

Our three bedroom layout is a bit unique. The downstairs Coca-Cola bedroom is an optional rental because many guests will not need it and will not want to pay extra for it. There are two large bedrooms on the main floor. Both have very comfortable king beds and a large, separate sitting area. The master bedroom has a 60" flat-screen Roku TV that can be watched while in bed. Both sitting areas have a large 55" flat-screen TV and a Roku for program and TV streaming. The master bedroom sitting area has a comfortable futon sofa that could sleep an adult or a child, depending on privacy concerns. The sitting area in the second bedroom has plenty of room for one or two children to sleep on the floor. We have an air mattress available for this use. Each bedroom has a large closet and an adjoining full bath with a large walk-in shower.

For groups who need additional sleeping accommodations, our very unique downstairs Coca-Cola bedroom can be added to your rental for an additional fee. It has a beautiful Coca-Cola motif with two queen sleep sofas and two bunks built into the wall. It is the perfect room for older children to have their own private area or for adults who are comfortable in a bunkhouse atmosphere. The room has a full bath with a walk-in shower. The bedroom opens onto its own outside sitting area/porch. A quick walk up the outside stairs gets you to the main level of the house. The downstairs bedroom also has a large flat-screen TV and a Roku for streaming your favorite programs.

Our home has a continuous gas hot water heater. You always have enough hot water for every guest to take a shower. The house also has a high capacity LP gas generator for those rare occasions where the power might go off for a short period of time. We also have a full sized washer and dryer so you can have clean clothes even if you forgot your suitcase. Our mountaintop getaway has central heat and cooling, so you will always be comfortable. The unit is rarely needed in the summertime, since temperatures on the top of Renegade Mountain are generally at least 10-15 degrees cooler than in Nashville, Knoxville, or Chattanooga, and the humidity is also much lower. Just open the doors and windows and enjoy the cool mountain air.

For the technically oriented guest and/or the workaholic who needs to stay connected at all times, our cottage has high speed wireless Internet and a multi-function printer (bring your own laptop). The den has a 65" LCD TV with surround sound and each bedroom has a 50" TV. All TV's have a separate Roku and DVD player. Land Line telephone service , including free long distance, is provided. (Cell phone service, especially AT&T, is marginal on Renegade Mountain.) Our location allows you to spend pleasant spring, summer, and fall days on our large, open, shaded rear porch reading, resting, or meditating while listening to the sounds of nature and watching the deer in the former golf fairway behind the cabin . The porch has both screened and unscreened areas for your enjoyment. For sore muscles or tired feet, our very private 8 person hot tub on the rear porch offers great therapy beneath an unbelievable view of the stars.

For security purposes, our mountain home has 4 outside security cameras. There is a Blink doorbell camera, as well as a Blink camera that shows the front yard and street, a camera that shows the kitchen entrance and parking area, and a camera under the rear deck that shows the entrance to the downstairs area. There are no cameras inside our home or showing the decks or living areas.

Trillium Cottage is very well landscaped with rock features and native plants and shrubs, especially in the rear where you can sit under the trees and gaze at a serene view of the old golf course and adjacent Black Mountain, home of the Cumberland Trail State Park. Swing in one of the old lift chairs from the former Renegade Mountain Ski Resort as you take in the magnificent view. At night you can roast marshmallows and make Smores around the fire pit. Live high at 2600 ft in our cabin in the clouds (but please don't get high). Our cabin is within 40 miles of at least 10 excellent public golf courses (Crossville is the 'Golf Capital of Tennessee'). We can provide guest passes that offer reduced rates at the five Fairfield Glade courses, as well as access to all other Fairfield Glade activities. Pigeon Forge and Dollywood are 1 1/2 hours away and you do not have to spend the night with 30,000 of your new best friends after your day trip. Have a 4-wheeler? The are plenty of trails in the area to keep you entertained. Bring a GPS, because there are 10,000 acres to get lost in.

During your drive up the mountain to the cabin, and from our porches once you arrive, expect to see deer, wild turkeys, a very occasional bear, and numerous squirrels, birds, and other assorted mountain critters. The only thing that isn't wild is the living. Come often - every season is a different adventure at our mountaintop home in the clouds.

Relaxing Peaceful Family Retreat
Highly recommend this amazing mountaintop home which exceeded our expectations. It was very comfortable, clean, peaceful with lots of fun extras and decor. The amenities provided were above and beyond. Thank you to our host John who was easy to communicate with, always available and thorough in providing everything we needed for our stay. Great kitchen & very well stocked. We enjoyed the breezes sitting on the deck for hours, the screened porch, beautiful mountain views, amazing sunsets, old golf course setting/cart trails for walks & hot tub on deck. We appreciated the several bird feeders and having seed available. We were visited by lots of birds & colorful gold finches. The entire experience made for a perfect vacation and we would love to stay again.

Peaceful get-away
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay on Renegade Mountain. The house was just as described and very well appointed. We lacked for nothing. The owners supplied perfect information on how close entertainment and food was and made it clear they were there if we needed them. The extra lot on the side of the house made this location very private and the access to the cart path at the back of the house made dog walking a breeze. We hope to come back again!!

Amazing property!
See all those 5 star reviews on this property? Well I'm here to tell you from experience, they are all warranted. We've stayed at properties around the country and have never had better accommodations. John has his home in amazing condition and it's so well appointed, you'd swear it was furnished by a professional interior decorator. Super comfy furniture in the Great Room. Top of the line appliances. Beds that guarantee a good night's rest. And nothing was better than being in that outdoor hot tub and taking in the picture-perfect scenery. Thanks, John, for all your efforts to provide an amazing stay!

Perfect Golf Stay
Yet another amazing trip to Crossville/Fairfield Glade for some remarkable golf. Every trip is not complete unless we stay at John's cabin. We absolutely love the climb up Renegade Mountain and the secluded nature of the cabin. The cabin checks all the boxes of what you'd expect, and more. Can't wait for our next golf trip and our stay here!

Excellent Mountain Get Away
We loved this place! The views were serene from everywhere, but especially from the back porch. My wife and I especially enjoyed exploring around the derelict golf course and fishing in the ponds. The house was simply amazing. It was very clean, comfortable, and felt like home. My Father was with us and wanted to stay in the extra space below. He raved about it. Called it his little escape while still being a part of everything. The place offers a great jump off location for the surrounding golf courses which my son enjoyed immensly. I cant say enough great things about this place. We will definitely be coming back. Thanks John for a wondeful place for my family to stay and enjoy the serenity and beauty of Renegade Mountain!

We received a message as we were headed out that courtesy of Mother Nature, the pipes had frozen and busted making the cabin unusable. John offered up the house right next door which surpassed the expectations of our original place. We were so thrilled. It was perfect, beautiful, perfect for my husband me and the kids. Tennessee Getaway
The cabin was everything we hoped it would be. Clean, private, and very comfortable. Host John was easy to contact and responded quickly (as were his helpers on the mountain) We slept in the huge bedroom upstairs with the vaulted ceilings and exposed wood which allowed us to hear the rain on the metal roof. Just like in the movies and songs. Host John doesn't take any shortcuts. Everything was top notch and well maintained. We cooked on the gas grill. used the hot tub, had a fire in the pit and took our dog for long walks, she loved playing in the leaves. TV and wifi were also very good. Get your shopping done at Walmart in Crossville and firewood at Lowes. For flat landers like us from south Florida, this offered amazing views and a perfect "chill" getaway. You know how when you get home after a trip and you're happy to be in your own bed? Not this time. We miss the comfy bed and the sound of the rain on the metal roof. Will be back. Big thanks to host John for making this happen!
