Crooklets Beach featuring general coastal views

A sheltered beach which joins with Summerleaze and Northcott Mouth at low tide, forming one large bay just a short walk from Bude.

Join the families relaxing on the beach or grab a board and surf the waves at Crooklets Beach. Explore rock pools and walk the length of the Bude coast. Watch demonstrations from the Bude Surf Life Saving Club and relax in the seafront café.

At high water Crooklets Beach seems to be a small, pebbly beach, but at low tide it merges with neighboring beaches and reveals a huge sandy expanse. Walk along one of the longest stretches of sand in Cornwall. It is more exposed to the Atlantic than other beaches in Bude, making it popular with surfers and other water sport enthusiasts.

Head for the waves and enjoy the surfing. Book an instructor if you’re just beginning. Ride the waves all the way from Summerleaze to Sandymouth. Popular spots include a hollow wave near Wrangles Rock and a long left-hander that breaks off Barrel Rock. Enjoy other water sports too, such as kayaking, coasteering, rock climbing and sea canoeing.

Sit on the terrace of the café and enjoy the scenery. On Tuesday evenings throughout the summer you can watch demonstrations from Bude Surf Life Saving Club, who maintain a clubhouse here. Check their schedule and see what else they’re up to you can watch their training sessions or join in with their events and competitions.

Crooklets Beach is just a few minutes’ walk from the center of Bude and has two parking lots. The beach has several facilities, including a viewing area, public toilets with disabled access, showers, a children's play area and a small skate park. Rent a beach hut from the nearby Summerleaze Beach office. Swimming is restricted to specific areas due to currents. Lifeguard cover runs from the middle of May until the middle of September. Dogs are welcome on the beach between the beginning of October and Easter, but banned at other times.
