"The hotel is a large old inn on the outside, but inside is modern, clean and very comfortable. The staff were very friendly and looked after us very well. For example: we were shown to our room on arrival (never had that before) and were a font of knowledge about the various local walks and sights. There is even a map painted on the ceiling of the bar! Restaurant was an excellent source of hearty and freshly cooked meals (breakfasts and dinners). Highly recommend."

"Wonderful Westmorland hospitality. Nice real fire in the Bar, so welcome on an Autumn evening. Chats with local regulars. Beautiful room. Excellent menu and eventual meal plus brilliant choice of wine with no overpricing. Excellent breakfast to complete our visit."

"Lovely stay. Was so cosy sitting by the fire in the restaurant and bar. Service from friendly, helpful staff. The room was very comfortable with a lovely modern bathroom. Would thoroughly recommend a stay here. "

"This is the 3 rd time we have stayed at the Wild Boar and we decided to Upgrade our room this time . Unfortunately the shower had not be cleaned and had cobwebs hanging from It clearly Indicating it had not been cleaned throughly for some time . All staff were friendly and the meals are fantastic unfortunately the standard of cleanliness of the shower somewhat tarnished the stay as the room upgrade was significantly more expensive than the standard rooms. "

"Didnt have my booking on the system, appeared to give me the reserve room that they use for last case scenarios. The stairwell ran diagonally above the bed so every time someone walked up the stairs it boomed through just above your head. Hidden charges for using the gym. Main reception in a different building. Free parking was the only decent part. "

"We ßrrived later than expected due to traffic issues on the motorway,however the staff were great,very helpful and supportive of our situation.Made us feel very welcome.Lovely room and we enjoyed the vibe in the restaurant."
