Relax as you enjoy this cozy, well-stocked, immaculately decorated cabin hosted by the same owners as neighboring VRBO property #936258. Refer to that listing to know that while this specific cabin may be a newer listing, we have years of experience hosting other guests.
Easily accessible by all types of vehicles year-round, this incredibly quiet and relaxing mountain escape is surrounded by Mother Nature’s brilliance, with regular visits from our “neighbors” such as elk, deer, moose, and a multitude of birds and chipmunks. This newly remodeled 1-bed, 1 bath 650 sq. foot cabin sits on 20 acres and borders public Forest Service lands, with direct access to numerous activities. The cabin is one of the property’s original mining cabins, which has been remodeled from the ground-up with today's comforts. Heating and A/C are fully electric with separate heating/cooling units in each room.
The kitchen is a retro 50's themed experience and includes the original metal cupboards with all new appliances (fridge, electric stove, dishwasher, Keurig coffee maker, etc). The bathroom is decorated in an outhouse/outdoor theme with its own outhouse structure (with running water of course).
While the cabin is certainly remote in nature, it is connected to the world with Starlink’s high-speed unlimited internet access, allowing you to stream movies, make calls on your phone with WiFi calling, make video calls, check emails/texts, or even work remotely (if you so choose).
Activities are endless; play games, go fishing, hiking, or mountain biking, relax with your favorite beverage on the deck, soak in the 5 person hot tub, or even take a nap in one of the hammocks placed throughout the property. Enjoy the beauty that the surrounding Selway-Bitterroot Forest has to offer with day hikes to mountain lakes or fishing on the West Fork River. Visit one of a number of fire lookouts in the area for spectacular, endless views, or take day trips to visit places like Big Hole National Battlefield, Bannack Ghost Town, Historic Virginia City, or Lost Trail Ski Area. End your day by sitting next to a campfire, making smores, sharing stories of the day, and gazing up at the magnificent starry sky. Do any or all of these, or simply choose to do nothing at all.
The Town of Darby, which is located 40 minutes away, is where you will find the closest grocery store, restaurants, and other great stores including an antiques/candy store to explore. The drive to Darby is beautiful, winding around Painted Rocks Lake and following the Westfork of the Bitterroot river. The nearest airport is the Missoula International Airport located in Missoula just under 2 hours away.
In addition to this cabin, the hosts live year round in a cabin 150 yards away so are easily accessible for any questions. Another cabin sits approx. 50 yards away and is only used by family sporadically in the summer months. There is another vacation rental cabin (VRBO property #936258) that is approx. 80 yards away. The subject cabin was remodeled and designed so the others have very little impact on a guests views and overall experience.
