BIDWELL COTTAGE, a charming hideaway close to Lake Daylesford

Bidwell is a peaceful country retreat in the heart of Daylesford, set privately at the back of a leafy garden allotment on a quiet no-through-road that leads down to Lake Daylesford. It is very close to the famous Amazing Mill Markets antiques emporium, and within walking distance of both the Lake and Daylesford’s main street with its shops, restaurants and cafes.

The cottage has a woodburning heater with about 8kg of firewood supplied. A powerful new split-system air conditioner has recently been installed. As well as the queen-size bed in the bedroom, there is a double sofa bed in the lounge. Free WiFi is provided, as well as the Netflix and Stan streaming services on the smart TV.

The long west-facing deck has outdoor seating and a gas barbecue. There is ample on-site parking available.

Pets are very welcome at Bidwell Cottage, including inside the house. The garden is securely fenced. We ask that dogs do not go on sofas or beds; if you can't prevent this, please bring along your own blankets/throws to protect our furnishings.

Beautiful, cozy place to recover after a big hike
We absolutely loved our stay here. We had just done a 3 day hike on the Wallaby trail and were very happy to settle into this property. Anthony was great at communicating and getting back to us about any questions we had. Thank you for having us stay! We'll definitely be back again

Queen's Birthday weekend 2022
Bidwell Cottage was as charming and cosy as we had expected from it's listing. And as it was quite a cold weekend it was lovely of Anthony to arrange to drop off more firewood. Would definitely stay again.

Winter is not a good time to visit Daylesford
The property was clean and tidy. Provision of heating was good. A very basic place to stay for a weekend only or passing through for a night. Not value for money to stay longer than 2 days.

Short stay
We choose this property because pets were allowed. Clean and all amenities provided. Lovely bottle of wine to greet us which was really nice gesture. Only disappointing issue was there was a Possum on rooftop jumping around middle of the night. We would stay there again and recommend. Not 5 star probably 3.5 however enjoyable.

2 night get away.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Bidwell cottage. The cottage is tastefully decorate. The bed and the sofa bed, were both very comfortable. It was lovely sitting outside on the balcony at night to enjoying a Bbq. Anthony and Andrew made sure we had settled in on arrival sending us a text message with their contact details if we should have any concerns. Although this cottage is small, it had everything we needed for our stay. The yard is very pet friendly. We will be recommending it to our friends.

Lovely short stay with our fur family
We enjoyed our stay at Bidwell. The bed is very comfortable and the kitchen well supplied with everything needed for a self catering stay. The supply of condiments was appreciated and the free bubbly a generous touch. There were many thoughtful, homely inclusions. We had everything we needed for our four legged family and the fencing is secure. Really appreciated being allowed to have them inside with us. My only comment is that the interior looks much brighter in the listing than it is and the overhead lights are really needed all the time. A sky light would make all the difference to the living area which could be important if you are rained in or have planned an inside retreat. Overall though it is a delight for a short visit and we would stay again. Thanks 🙂

Loved this super thoughtful cottage
This cottage had a lovely character and a lot of thoughtful gems. I suffer from chronic stomach issues and had left my heat pack at home and was going to try to have to search to buy one but on checking in, we found a hot water bottle! The fire place was definitely put to use and as we are not accustomed to using fireplaces, Anthony and Andrew left a lovely step by step how to. The place was super clean and tidy but also cosy and had a lot of character. The bed was comfy and the living room had some great reading material and board games we made use of as well! the location is also great! We went for a walk/run down the road to a spring and if we had a bit more time, could have been a lovely walk to daylesford lake! We visited Mill Market across the road and the main rd of food (vincent rd) was walkable distance. Everything on our to do list was 2-3 min drive (max 15min drive) from the cottage. Loved staying here and would definitely recommend!
