Bring your kids to swim in this flat and placid bay and enjoy the spectacular views of endless blue water from the 18th-century fort.

Deep Bay is a stunning stretch of sand backed by tropical vegetation on a thin strip of land. The Andes Shipwreck has become a popular diving spot in the water, which is clear and warm, while a fort stands over the northern flank. Enjoy the seclusion of this tranquil and picturesque bay, away from the typical sightseeing trail.

Bring snorkeling gear and enter the water to see the range of colorful aquatic creatures. Hike with your family and friends through the verdant forest backing onto the beach. The stretch of sand is popular with some local residents and is dotted with colorful huts.

Take a catamaran out on the water or go scuba diving near the iconic Andes Shipwreck. Look for part of the mast of the hulk, which was wrecked here in 1905. The barnacle-covered mast rises above the water at low tide. Note how the coral, sponges and reef fish have taken over the vessel.

Bring your kids to swim in the calm water of this sheltered bay. The waves are so placid that the bay resembles a swimming pool. Walk to the northern tip of the cape and capture photos of the endless blue water before you. Hike to the top of the northern cape’s cliffs to visit the ruins of the 18th-century Fort Barrington. It has dungeon cells, cannons and exceptional ocean views.

Amble along the beach and search for gems, such as shells washed up by the tides and gentle wave action. Sunbathe on the sand, before cooling down with a swim in the water. Stay at the hotel or villas at the base of the promontory.

Find Deep Bay in the Five Islands village on a cape that juts out from the western side of St. John’s on the northwestern corner of Antigua. Drive west from the center of St. John’s for about 5 miles (8 kilometers) to get here in just over 20 minutes. See nearby attractions, such as Galley Bay, the Five Islands Moravian Church and Yepton Beach.
