"The apartment at Macrocapa Heights is an ideal location for a holiday break. Stan and Terresa are brilliant hosts, and they were able to give me details of the local history of the Bay together with places to visit in the immediate area. The accommodate is very comfortable and spacious and has all of the essential amenities for a relaxing break. The apartment overlooks Tokomaru Bay and has stunning view from the garden area. "My review is not actually for the glamping tent. The owner sent an email several days in advance of my stay letting me know the tents had blown away during a storm. I instead stayed in a Zen Cabin (for no extra charge) and it was wonderful! One of my favorite stays in NZ. Parking is right outside the cabin, easy check-in and entry, beautifully decorated, private kitchenette, private bathroom, comfortable bed facing the ocean in front of a huge picture window."

"This was the first time we have stayed in a place like this, usually it is camp grounds or motels, and we had a wonderful time. If you want to spend time on a farm away from any technology and town life then this is the place to come. Our children loved being out with the animals and walking through the paddocks, I got the rest and relaxation I had been searching for for so long, and my husband was able to step away from work. "As a large family of three generations this bach was ideal for us, as were able to pitch tents to allow separation for our teenagers, and it was well fenced for our dog. The bach was very well appointed, and with a couple of minor additions would be rated as excellent. "This is a true old style Kiwi bach, a bit scruffy and well worn/used. But that is its beauty and authenticity. Staying by the beach in a more remote part of Aotearoa, I do not want a super-swish, Auckland style apartment. The area is stunningly beautiful, especially Whanarua Bay itself. But there seem to be undertones of local conflict over who can fish, how and where. So be careful and sensitive."
