"The Pros: The hotel is big, with wonderful mountain and ocean views. Rooms are big. The staff was mostly very courteous. The Cons: Built in the 1980s, the hotel doesn’t appear to have been renovated since then, giving it a “lost in time” feel. Very outdated facilities for charging electronic devices. "What a delightful stay! This was absolutely perfect for my time on Yakushima, and exceeded my expectations. The owner was very welcoming, speaks excellent English, and clearly takes pride in the property, which is in a quiet and scenic spot but a short drive from town and convenient to arrival/departure points. "This part of Yakushima is pretty empty. Do your research first!! Bring food. And most restaurants in the area are cash only. Overall beautiful location with a nice private beach! "

"The place is very quiet. I initially wanted to hike the Jomon Sugi trail, but with limited time and insufficient preparation, it wasn't possible. However, Kentaro was so very helpful in suggesting an alternative trekking itinerary. Hopefully I wasn't too annoying with my endless questions :)"

"We absolutely loved our stay at Hana Mana Cottage. We stayed for two night and wished we had longer. The property was amazing - the cottage is situated in an incredibly well kept garden in beautiful Yakushima. It is a short(ish) walk to the Senpiro Falls. The cottage itself was lovely - it had plenty of space to relax was clean and comfortable. It was the ideal place to come back to after our hike around Yakushima.
