"Location was perfect. Staff lovely. Booked a suite as a special treat and were very disappointed. Had the attic rooms, which gave spectacular views of the cathedral and castle but the room was so tired and lacking any personality. Bathroom was pretty awful. "We have stayed at the Petwood Hotel before, in order to join a friends party. We loved it so much that I treated us to a room overlooking the garden. It was well worth the extra money, as there was a raised area with a lovely table overlooking the gardens as well as the huge size of the room itself. The history and atmospheric quality of the hotel is superb and the local area is fabulous, especially for walks or cycling. Treat yourself to Sunday lunch if you can as a fabulous pianist called...
