"My wife and I are usually very careful when it comes to booking a holiday but somehow this one got under the radar! We thought we had a bed not a bed settee, we thought there was a fully fitted kitchen, there wasn't, we thought we could use the lake, we couldn't as it was closed, I expressly asked twice if I could bring a kayak but had no reply, nor were we told the lake was out of action due to Algie, we also didn't know that pretty much absolutely everything else was extra, TV, Wifi, swimming,...

"Lovely old building with pleasant grounds but the unit lacked a great deal. Firstly, no air conditioning on a 34 degree day is a huge problem for anyone. We had to ask for a fan and leave windows on ground floor open all night in order to get some kind of sleep. NOT IDEAL for safety. Kitchen facilities were lacking, no chopping/cutting board, no sharp knife to cut anything, no microwave heating bowl, slow oven top, no egg spatula or tongs, no toaster. "Accueil et capacité d'hébergement: ok, machines à café et fourniture pour petit dej : ok... mais literies ayant vécu ++ , tapisseries et peintures des années 80 ayant subies infiltrations et moisissures, installation électrique dangereuse avec fils dénudés, y compris dans la salle de bains !! Necessiterait une sérieuse rénovation et mise aux normes avant de figurer sur un site de location !!"

Everyone was delighted with the beautiful and spacious home, the property and the location. We were able to travel to many wonderful places nearby and a little bit further out in France. "We got there just after 6pm. The place was open but there is no reception, nor was anyone there to greet us and no phone number to call. Fortunately there was a couple of guys staying there who were able to call someone who let us into our room. I couldn’t remember if this was a pay at property or if we had prepaid so I asked the guy who told me we owed €75. We offered him our credit card but he asked for cash and it wasn’t till the next morning I discovered that we had indeed pre-paid. The...

"Very strange "kitchen" with a stove put on top of what was a bar and is extremely high. No extraction hood so its mpossible to cook. Bathroom without window or extraction fan. Constant noise right outside the door. The ad says the owner speaks French and English but they don't speak a word of English. We did not see the super well equipped place mentioned in other reviews. We do not recommend this place."

"A small but reasonably comfortable chalet in a beautiful location with a view of the lake. Nice place to enjoy the onsite facilities and visit the area. Downsides. There was no oven in the kitchen which was frustrating, just a very small microwave without oven feature. There was no control on noise from other groups that partied until the early hours on several nights "

"A quiet setting in a single storey rear annexe. The open-plan living/djning/kitchen area was spacious and well equipped. We appreciated Claudie’s friendly welcome and the provision of juice, coffee, tea and store cupboard items. Heating was available as was plenty of hot water, and the beds were comfortable. Wi-fi was mostly good. We would stay again. Thank you Claudie."

"Have stayed in a number of Mons hotels whilst i vacated my apartment in the town. This included 2 stays at the van der valk during October 2024. This time in room 103 for a week, nice big clean room, shower only. Very convenient for getting to my apartment and into the centre of town. Didn't use parking or breakfast. IKEA is 10 mins walk away and do a hot breakfast for a few euros. Also 10 mins walk to cafes etc. Van der Valk is easily best hotel in Mons, happy to recommend "

"I'm vacating my apartment in mons so have been staying at a number of local hotels. Stayed in room 113 for a week. My only negative is no aircon which would be a nightmare in the summer, they do supply a big noisy fan. Perhaps B&B who are new owners will install aircon? Other than that it was an excellent stay, free coffee downstairs 24/7 and a room with a bath. We didn't bother with breakfast as plenty of shops/cafes in Mons. Very comfortable bed, i slept very well. Would recommend the B&B centre mons (ex lido). There is a launderette just up the street, open 24/7, tokens on sale for machines inside"

"I'm currently preparing to vacate my apartment in Mons after a few years working in Belgium. Stayed Saturday night at the B&B Mons Gare room 207. The young man on reception was incredibly helpful, Joffrey. Our room was very large with a bath. There were a couple of wedding parties in but we had a great nights sleep. Breakfast was fine with some hot options for us Brits. I never used the hotel when it was run by IBIS but would recommend. We didn't have a car but the car park looked easy to use. Not in the best part of Mons but we know the area well."
