"Old Kirkstead is a really nice spot which was enjoyed by kids and parents alike. "Lovely spacious well-heated house in beautiful countryside. We had a week of snowy weather which was heavenly. Edward, the owner was extremely helpful. He towed out some cars which got stuck in the car park by the house, provided lots of logs, replaced the washing machine which had problems and was generally a great help. This is a house for people who like old books and furnishings...don't go there if you want modern posh."

We were new to the area but found the location perfect as a base for exploring near and far. over a few days..plenty to do on your doorstep with shops and eateries with-in Melrose if you don't fancy cooking. "We found the home to be a very nice size with ample room for us. The recent upgrades and renovations were very well done. We did have a bit of difficulty navigating the one way streets for the parking situation. Parking lot across the street was close and free during our stay which was very good. Parking nearly by on the street would have been a challenge. The property was in an area urban renewal. Was well within an easy walk to the High Street. "

"Great location and very modern. I like a traditional feel more than the modern but it had everything one needed. However, there was less than 1 role of toilet paper between both bathrooms combined and no soap or shampoo, napkins, paper towels, dish brushes or clothes wash so come prepared. Also, the garbage outside was filled to overflowing before we arrived and we were unable to clean up our kitchen. Apparently, per the neighbor, this is an ongoing problem. The beds were a little uncomfortable....
