Disneyland® is one of the landmark attractions of California, the state that Walt Disney made his home in 1923 and where he was to pursue the artistic dreams that made him and his eponymous film studio a household name. Now the latest creations of this global brand are showcased in Disney California Adventure, which opened in 2001 next door to the original Disneyland® resort in Anaheim.Eight themed areas take you on a voyage of discovery through the magical world of Disney, with thrilling rides, spectacular shows and plenty of fun. As well as meeting some of the larger-than-life characters from the films, you’ll learn more about the city of Los Angeles which inspired young Walt. Take a flight on the Soarin’ Over California experience for a bird’s-eye view of the Golden State, then stroll along Buena Vista Street to admire the Spanish Mission-style architecture of the fast-growing city in its early days. After the gentle attractions of vintage Art Deco, set your pulse racing with a trip to Grizzly Peak, where daredevil white-water and zip-line rides bring the great outdoors into sharp focus.Step aboard Heimlich’s Chew Chew Train or hop on Flik’s Flyers to view the world through a bug’s eyes and make some tiny new 3D friends. “A Bug’s Land” is an area packed with whimsical rides inspired by the Disney-Pixar movie “A Bug’s Life” and is especially popular with the youngsters. The magic of the movies comes alive in Hollywood Land, where you can meet Disney superstars and enjoy live entertainment and animation. Take a scary ride in a haunted lift in The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror™, follow Alice down the rabbit hole for a Mad T Party, or laugh at the crazy antics of Monsters Inc. and the Muppets!When you feel the need to step out of the spotlight, take a break by the waterside at Pacific Wharf and enjoy some typical Californian hospitality to replenish your energies so that you’re ready for some more action! Cool off with the cast of “The Little Mermaid” at Ariel’s Undersea Adventure, take a flying lesson at Goofy’s Sky School or get your motor running in Cars Land. As the day draws to a close, Paradise Bay comes alive with a sunset music and light show which will send the whole family home happy – just as Uncle Walt would have it!Disney California Adventure is located 56 kilometres south of Los Angeles.
