Experience Stunning Sunsets at Prime Hook Beach!

Escape the crowds and unwind at Prime Hook Beach, a hidden gem on the Delaware Bay just off Route 1. Conveniently located near Rehoboth and Lewes, this peaceful retreat offers a natural beach with gentle waves and a gradual slope—perfect for kids and dogs to swim safely. Spend your days searching for seashells, flipping horseshoe crabs, or simply relaxing by the water.

Our home backs onto a beautiful wildlife refuge, providing a serene backdrop for your stay, with sandy beach access just steps away across the quiet residential street.
Our home offers the perfect blend of comfort and coastal charm, featuring 3 bedrooms, 2 full baths, and an open-concept floor plan with water views from every window. The sleeping arrangements include two bedrooms with queen sized beds and one bedroom with full over full bunk beds. The house sleeps 6 total.

The fully equipped kitchen includes a large fridge, gas stove, full dishwasher and a spacious toaster oven (fits a casserole dish or pizza). Please note: we do not have a full oven. We provide all pots, pans, dishes, and serving ware, along with a drip coffee maker and Keurig—plus coffee, creamer, and sugar to get you started! You may even fire up the gas grill on the side deck and enjoy a cookout!

Bring your furry friend—our home and the beach are dog-friendly! We kindly ask that you clean up after your pet and keep them on a leash when outside.

IMPORTANT NOTICE
As of September 1st, 2026, we will no longer be renting out our beloved bayside retreat. Over the past 10 years, we've been incredibly fortunate to share our home with so many wonderful guests-families making memories, couples celebrating honeymoons, babies enjoying their first beach days, and even dogs experiencing their first (and sometimes last) adventures by the sea.
This was not an easy decision, but we remain committed to providing a five-star experience for every guest until our final rental day.

Great Getaway

My family loved our stay at this cottage at the beach. Can't beat the views and beach access. The cottage was clean and very well-stocked with basics (and more). For those traveling with young children, there was a nice selection of toys, games, and beach toys. It's also a great home base for exploring all the surrounding towns and beaches.

Peaceful Retreat

We had a wonderful stay at this cottage. There are beautiful views of the national wildlife refuge, and sunsets over it, from the back deck. Then a one minute walk over to the beach for the sunrises over the bay. The owners were also very friendly and responsive to any questions or issues we had. We would definately love to rent this home again, when we take another vacation down to Deleware!

Perfect Get-away

Beautiful property that was dog-friendly and right across the street from the private beach. 2 full bathrooms! Great deck that overlooked the refuge. The host was super-responsive.

Cozy beach house

Wonderful and practical, this space was perfect for us. Nice open layout and great view of the wildlife refuge from 2 bedrooms; you can also see DE Bay from the front of the house. Beautiful sunsets, easy walk to the beach and very quiet this time of year (Dec).

Gorgeous View

My parents and I came to Delaware to visit my son at the Airforce Base. We enjoyed our stay! The sunsets from the deck were beautiful. The beach was a short walk right across the street. The sand is soft and full of treasures. The cattage was just as advertised. Fully stocked with everything you could need. They supply outdoor toys as well! We would stay again!

Bayside Retreat

We loved our stay at the Bayside Retreat! Chris thought about every convenience you could have to make a comfortable stay. We loved the grill and having such a wonderful view from the back deck where we spent a lot of our time. My daughter and I really enjoyed the bay and all the wildlife at the refuge. We explored Milton and Lewes and had a great time!

Peaceful Location - So Happy To Return to This Special Place!

Wonderful weekend getaway

Loved our stay at this pretty house. Location is perfect. Tranquil bay on one side and short walk to the beach on the other. Lewes and Rehoboth within 15 minutes. The house had all the amenities we needed . We slept well on the beds and the showers had wall units of shampoo, conditioner and body wash. I'm already planning our next stay !

Christmas getaway

Our family spent 2 christmas's here after my father passed and we needed a new tradition. The layout is perfect for a small family. Everything is on one level. The views out the back - spectacular sunsets. Quick walk to the beach to see the snow geese and a brisk walk. We've had to move on to a larger home with more bedrooms, otherwise, we'd still be booking here. The host provides excellent amenities and a stocked pantry (helpful for quick stays) and linens. Host goes above and beyond - my mom left her iPod there one year and we asked them to keep a lookout for it...months later they found it and mailed it back to us.

Peaceful, clean and comfortable

All the positive reviews are spot on - this place is a gem! Easy check in with key code. Very clean and comfortable, with so many household items available it feels like actually being hosted rather than just renting a room; which so many short term rentals feel like now. So nice to not have to pack your whole house for vacation. Enjoyed sunrise at the bay and sunsets on the deck. AC was nice and cold on a super hot week but added plus were the ceiling fans throughout the house - lovely touch! We made most meals at the house - kitchen has everything you could need. Owner was easy to chat with and helpful! Thank you for sharing your home & for accepting pets! We brought our foster dog and he saw the beach for the first time! The beach is not crowded - with people at least - bring bug spray! Enjoyed exploring the area down to Lewes/Cape Henlopen as well. Will be back!

Perfect getaway spot

The house was even better than advertised. Perfect location with bay views and a beach across the street where my dog continued to live his best life. Short drive to stores, restaurants, and activities away from the beach but you could just bring all your supplies and stay at the house for the entire stay.

Great family getaway!

We had such a nice time at Chris and Nick’s bayside retreat! The home was so clean and welcoming. The minute we walked in we felt instantly rejuvenated. Being on the nature preserve and right across the street from the bay made it such a perfect and peaceful spot. The kids loved morning walks on the beach, and bird watching from the back. We hope to go back!
