Country Cabin Near the Cowichan River

Discover one of the sweetest secrets in the Cowichan Valley: the perfect place to unplug and unwind. Re-wild yourself in nature by exploring the region's rivers, lakes, trails, vineyards, cideries and farms.

The Old Maple Cabin is nestled within our 6 acre property amongst Dogwoods, Maples, and wildflowers. Marvel at the stars while frogs serenade you, enjoy a drink by the shared fire pit, listen to the river flowing nearby, or simply cozy up in your comfy king size bed in the 7 ft. loft or the sofa bed down below.

The Old Maple log cabin is unique in its charm with a simple yet welcoming interior. Lit by the natural glow of traditional oil lamps and warmed by a cozy wood stove, this tiny log cabin has all the modern comforts while boasting traditional off-grid features. The kitchen area is complete with a small fridge, deluxe propane camp stove, and large bar sink with a traditional hand pump water faucet. The kitchen is well stocked with pots pans, kettle, utensils, cups, dishes and basic culinary staples, as well as local organic ground coffee and tea. The folding table and chairs are perfect for dinning inside or out on the deck.

The private bath house is only steps away from the front door. Complete with a hot water on demand shower, composting toilet, organic shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and hand soap, to keep you comfortable and clean.

Whether you choose to get lost in a good book, enjoy a local cider or wine on your deck after a day of exploring the Cowichan Valley, walk along the local paths or mingle at the fire pit while listening to the Cowichan River flowing below, we can ensure that the land will help put your body and mind back at ease.

We are as low impact on the environment as possible, collecting rain water and using outdoor composting toilets. Recycling and composting are encouraged. Linens, blankets and towels are provided.

The Old Maple Tiny House
The tiny house was wonderfully charming and cozy, like a little adventure all on its own for our family. The hosts were great and the location was close to everythinf we wanted to see and do.

Such a cute little gem nestled in the Cowichan Valley
We loved our stay at the cabin! The cabin is so cozy and cute. Even for the compact space, the hosts have provided all amenities you could ask of a comfortable short term rental. From a nicely stocked kitchenette that had tea, coffee, oil, salt pepper and just enough utensils, to oil lamps that take you to a bygone era, to games to wood burning fireplace... this property has it all... even wifi I had heard about saw dust toilets, got to use one here :D that was also an exoerience. It mostly drizzles in PNW and it doesn't really rain cats and dogs as much, but for folks who find even the drizzle disturbing, the distance between the bathroom and the cabin on a rainy night but send you back to bed wide awake :) So just keep that in mind. We had no issues with this. I would love to come back here. The hosts are very gracious. They have farm eggs and baked items for sale almost every day. The cities in Cowichan Valley have lots of quirky things to offer. From totem poles, to BC museum to raptors show... we were busy for all 3 days. We would love to come back!

A Very Enjoyable Getaway
It was perfect. Originally my wife and I were planning to come together but circumstances kept her from coming. She insisted that I should come and get some much needed R&R so I came alone. Very peaceful and comfortable yet close enough to Duncan that I didn't feel totally secluded. I have zero complaints about the place. Thank you to the owners. Neil

Cozy and quiet
I was initially surprised that the place was small, but it had everything we needed. The sofa bed was a lovely surprise since it had linens and was very comfortable. It was a little challenging getting in and out since we barbecued throughout our stay. The hosts were very responsive to all my questions. Plus, I had a great time with their cat (and other farm animals).

Definitely a step up from glamping
We loved our stay. The little cabin is well appointed, bed and pull out were both comfy, and the property was quiet and secluded with a particularly friendly cat that hung out with us by the fire. Would absolutely stay again.
