Eastbourne Miniature Steam Railway Adventure Park is a locomotive lover’s dream. Several miniature steam trains operate here, running on a track around this tranquil country park. Travel on one of the trains or observe the locomotives in action as they chug along. Bring the kids to the adventure playground to enjoy slides, swings and more.
This family-owned and operated park provides an ideal day of recreation. Start by riding the rails atop one of the 1/8th-scale miniature trains. Their retro designs are reminiscent of a much older era of English rail travel. The track runs for almost 1 mile (1.6 kilometers) around the park. The leisurely pace of the train makes it easy to enjoy the sights and natural surroundings as you travel the circuit.
Look for the large lake at the center of the park. Not only is this man-made lake home to geese and other birds, but it is also a popular fishing spot. Watch people casting their lines during your visit.
Let the kids vent excess energy by swinging and sliding in the playground and trying to escape from the park’s maze. Walk along the trails in the park. After all the activity, have a relaxing snack in the picnic area. Watch miniature trains passing by as you eat. The park also contains a café where you can purchase food and drinks. Stop at the shop to pick up railway-related souvenirs and memorabilia, as well as Thomas the Tank Engine toys and gifts.
The Eastbourne Miniature Steam Railway Adventure Park is open daily from late March until the beginning of November. Steam railway services do not operate every day though, so check before you come to see whether steam or diesel services will be running. Choose between two ticket options, one of which includes just one train journey and another that includes unlimited train rides. The park is about a 10-minute drive from the center of Eastbourne. Use the free parking on the site.
