Worst experience

We arrived at the apartment and as per the instructions got the keys from the safe. When we entered the room it had not been cleaned from the previous guest. We contacted Phil and he said that there was nothing that he could do at this place as the maid hadn't been able to come through to clean. He did relocate us to a new accommodation not far from the place we were meant to stay. It was much appreciated however we had to make do. The place we were relocated to was very small, had no kitchen facilities and did not include breakfast. Yes we lost out and felt cheated out of especially precious time. The bathroom was filthy, the bed was not made. No fresh towels and linen and dirt in the room. The pictures reflect what we arrived to. I was promised a refund but this hasn't happened.

Positiv - Sehr gute Anbindung an das öffentliche Verkehrsnetz / In der näheren Umgebung waren einige gute kleine Restaurants. Gutes Frühstück. Negativ - Allgemeiner Zustand der Unterkunft, sehr in die Jahre gekommen. Unsere Unterkunft (Bett und Zimmer) im Souterrain war eine Zumutung, hingegen das Baezimmer war zwar klein aber neu eingerichtet.

Das Frühstück war industriell hergestellte aus dem naheliegenden Supermarkt billigst eingekaufte, plastikverpackte Ware. Das anrichten des Frühstücks erfolgte vor den Gästen, indem die Brötchen und Croissants der Plastikverpackung entnommen wurden. Die Behältnisse für Milch und Saft waren schmutzig. Das "Bett" war eine Matraze, die auf dem Holzboden einer Empore lag. Das Zimmer selbst lag im Untergeschoss mit Aussicht aus einem vergitterten Fenster auf einen blauen Plastikkoffer und benutzte Farbeimer. Es gab nur einen Satz Handtücher für 2 Gäste. Rückfragen an die Rezeption wurden nicht beantwortet.

We had a good time staying at My Edinburgh Life. Most of my questions were answered on the webpage, but I had to search a bit to find them out. One item was luggage storage (not large, and it looks like some guests use it to store extra items that they do not have room for. In addition, there is no refrigerators in the room in building 13, so just be aware. Make sure that you take a look at what is offered, and ask questions before you book. The property is in the Haymarket area, about 1 mile walk from the Royal Mile. What I liked about it, was that I could enjoy the Royal Mile area during the day, and at night get to a quieter section where I could enjoy a nice dinner or a wee dram at one of the local pubs. What I was a little disappointed about was that there was no interaction with the staff when I got ther, just by email, but they are responsive. The reason for this is that they like to let people enjoy their stay. While they did have some information on Edinburgh, it would be nice to possibly have the following information in each guest room - shopping (to get forgotten items), restaurants, pubs.

Location was good. No Wifi in room, tv was losing connection. There was no continental breakfast put out the Sunday morning, had to buy coffee and sandwich across the street (£7.50). Strong odor from the toilet. Very expensive parking unless you walked 20 minutes. Window blinds falling apart. Noisy.

Very well situated beside Haymarket Railway Station for access on foot to Edinburgh centre. Was booked as a hotel, turned out to be more like a multi unit AirBnB. All keys held in key boxes at the doorways, no reception desk, all information about your stay dealt with by e-mail and text. I stayed on two separate nights few days apart. First room was compact with an en-suite, which for a one night stay was okay. Carpet has some stains and had a broken roman blind at the window. The second night, a different room, which had a separate private shower room, not an en-suite! This was awkward, as I thought I had booked rooms with en-suites. It was a basement room and had a slight musty smell. There was a fridge, microwave and kettle in this room. Continental breakfast options were good. They have a store room to accommodate bag storage if you arrive early before the 2pm check in time (Although it's at basement level, accessed from the street, so it might be problematic if you have a large suitcase)

Lågbudget hotell med närhet till centrum

Bra läge, gångavstånd till Edinburgh’s fantastiska centrum. Stort rum med högt i tak, fast lite opersonligt. Fanns inget på väggarna. Kyl och micro på rummet. Saknade vattenkokare. Bra frukost. Lätt att checka in och ut. Ingen städning var helt okej, men hade önskat att de i alla fall tömde soporna någon dag under våran 5 dagars vistelse. Eller haft en plats där vi själva hade kunnat slänga dom. Lite ofräsch heltäckningsmatta. Annars inget att klaga på. Edinburgh var en fantastisk stad. Vi passade även på att ta en busstur upp till högländerna. Kan verkligen rekommenderas! För barn (och vuxna)var Camera obscura en rolig aktivitet.

Läget är toppen, hållplats för spårvagn från flygplats nära. Goa sängar, rent, dock små utrymmen utan finess. God frukostbuffé, dock endast ett matbord, resten soffgrupper för frukostintag. Frukostpersonal utan någon välkomnande framtoning. Sämst var bristen av kontakt med ansvarig via mail, eller telefon vilket var stressande då utlovad kod för nyckel skulle lämnas 1-2 v före ankomst. Obs ej bemannad reception.

Just what I was looking for

This is an older property that has been converted to a a guest house. My room (for a single person) was small but clean and had everything I needed. The management offered generous buffet at breakfast (the coffee was actuall good!) The location was great! Just steps from a train station, tram stop, bus stop and taxi stand. Lots of food and pub options close by.

This isn’t a hotel. It’s a hostel. It’s noisy and small. Don’t bother staying here. You’d be better to find an air bnb.
