Haute Fayette is a 17th century priory renovated to a high standard situated in a peaceful, rural area. Renovations have retained a lot of the original features, arched windows, original stonework and exposed beams. The thick original stone walls mean the property keeps cool which can be a godsend on very hot days. The property has easy access from the car park for people needing a wheelchair. Also accessible by wheelchair is the downstairs bedroom, bathroom, dining room, kitchen, lounge, garden and pool. We have kitted out the kitchen with everything we would use ourselves from pizza cutter to washing machine. Included are microwave oven, hob, regular oven, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, coffee machine, toaster and corkscrew! There are table settings for 10+ people, glassware, cutlery and a variety of cooking pots and pans. The Dining area/day room has a table for 10 diners to sit comfortably a chaise longue and easy chair. Access to the garden, exterior dining area, pool and aperitif terrace is gained through an arched doorway. The downstairs bedroom has two twin beds (sleeps 2) and its own bathroom with large shower, WC and handbasin. The lounge is cosy with two huge leather sofas, TV, coffee tables and wood burning fire. The upstairs open mezzanine area has easy chairs, original wooden beams and stone walls. The Master bedroom has a king size bed looking out onto the beautiful scenic countryside. Floor to ceiling windows give you a panoramic view over fields and forests and the chance to see the sunrise. The childrens room, with access to the bathroom, has 2 sets of bunk beds (sleeps 4). Bedroom 4 has a double bed and lounge area with views out over the garden and pool. This room also has access to the bathroom. The pool area is completely enclosed by a discrete safety fence, as demanded by French law, with a child proof self closing gate. We do ask though that you survey your children at all times. The pool is 5metres x 10metres with a depth of 1m at the shallow end progressing to 3metres at its deepest point. The garden and pool area are completely secluded and not overlooked. The area around the property has a lot to offer including, chateaux, ruins (Chateau La Mercerie is amazing), kayaking, markets, caves (the best in my opinion being those at Villars) golf, velo-rail, bicycle hire, soap making, glass blowing, underground church (a must, at Aubeterre. Make a day of it and visit the potter Xavier Maffre) and a paper museum at Angouleme. There is car space for two possibly three cars. Our neighbours have free range chickens who enjoy a walk around our pool so we request no animals. The minimum stay is 4 nights. We do ask that you respect the area around the house. We have very good neighbours and we want it to stay that way. Please no undue noise especially after 10pm. The supermarket and local shops are a 10 minute car drive away from the property. Please note that the 4 bunk beds are only suitable for children.
