OCEANFRONT with Amazing Views and Pet friendly

With steps leading directly to the beach - what more could you ask for? You would be renting the west side. The views from this house are incredible no matter which direction you look. Sitting on the highest point of land in Emerald Isle, Cloud Nine is appropriately named, sitting high atop the dunes. The sun rises to the east and sets in the west, over the ocean, making this location one of the only places on the entire east coast that faces due south.

The house offers a huge composite deck with PVC railings and a covered sitting area for shade. Stairs offer a short walk to get your feet in the sand. On the main living floor an open floor plan offers a comfortable living room to relax and rejuvenate for another exciting beach day. A large kitchen off of the living room on the main floor is loaded with all of your cooking necessities. On the Bogue Sound side of the main floor, a separate room is tucked away for extra sleeping space. A full bath and washer/dryer is on the sound side, off of the kitchen.

The upstairs is all about sleeping space! After a day on the beach or out visiting the plethora of local attractions, there is nothing like a good night's rest. Cloud Nine offers comfortable sleeping for our guests as we have furnished the house for as we will one day live there ourselves. The master bedroom sits off the ocean side and offers a king bed and a large deck with a view that makes you speechless. The master bedroom offers the largest bathroom with windows that show the ocean with every turn.

The largest room on the sound side offers a private deck with a view of the ocean and the sound, a queen bed with a twin, large walk-in closet. The sound side back bedroom offers a full bed, twin bed and plenty of closet space with a great view of Bogue Sound. The middle room at the top of the stairs offers a bunkbed with two twins and closet.

Built in 1995 and remodeled in 2012, the house is very well constructed and maintained. Cloud Nine sits near mile marker 15, mid-way mark on the 29 mile island. This proximity allows guests to travel east to discover the local flavor of nearby Atlantic Beach, including a side trip to the North Carolina Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores, only 8 miles away. Continue on east and follow Route 58 to the end of the road which is home to historic Fort Macon State Park. From Atlantic Beach, a trip across the causeway to Morehead City offers nightlife, sound side dining and local shopping with historic Beaufort only a few miles further east. Traveling west from the house brings you into the town of Emerald Isle in just 4 miles. Adventurous guests can walk to the Bogue Sound pier by beach in about two hours. I recommend walking one way and calling back for a ride and insisting on being taken out to a wonderful local restaurant for lunch since you earned that!! Crossing the bridge at the west end of Emerald Isle is one of the most breathtaking scenes on the island. This short drive takes you to Cedar Point, home of Dudley Marina and the best place for FRESH OFF THE BOAT seafood at Phillips Seafood Market - where the locals go for fresh fish. Drive across another short bridge and enter into Swansboro, one of our favorite places to go. Wonderful people and wonderful restaurants. The closest mall in Jacksonville is only 30 minutes from Cloud Nine, beyond Swansboro.

Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee beach chairs or umbrellas will be available so please bring your own or arrange to rent them for your stay. The salt water and air destroys them quickly and we are unable to keep a supply available for renters.
- 2 parking spots under the west side of the house and 2 right behind those in the driveway. We do not have boat/trailer parking.

The perfect place to visit the Ocean
We loved our stay. The owners were responsive to all of our questions and quick to solve any issue we had. We had the best access to the beach and there was no overcrowding. It was great to enjoy the beach/ocean as a family and not have to always find a spot like you may have to do in the more public access areas. If you are into finding shells the beach will give you more than you can handle. We also loved being in the middle of the peninsula so we had easy access to all the surrounding things we wanted to see. The house was perfect for all of us and we really enjoyed our stay!

Amazing views
This was our first trip to the island and we will definitely be back. It was the prefect housing for our friendcation. While there is a lot of steps going down to the beach (we knew this when we booked), it provided amazing views off the deck and we all enjoyed gathering there each morning and evening. Communication with the host was great!!

Gorgeous views!
We loved our week here, you can’t beat the ocean views from every window and the quiet area and beachfront access. The house is well laid out, with a few minor things that need attention (shower heads are mostly all corroded from salty beach air, sliding door in master bedroom out to balcony is almost unusable, overall cleaning job prior to check-in was not the best). Homeowner was responsive and kind and we did enjoy our stay and will be back!

Wonderful week at emerald isle
We had a fabulous week! The owners responded quickly to my minor concerns, and my family of 10 had a great time. The stairs appeared daunting, but were really no problem, especially once we realized that the chairs etc could be safely stored at a landing near the beach. We hope to be back!

Fantastic holidays at EI !!
My husband, daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this wonderful property. We have stayed in several different places on EI and this was the best. The location on the island is wonderful as you have views of both ocean and sound sides, and the beach is pretty narrow here so it is not a long walk to the water. Property is very well equipped to relax and unwind. Owners were very responsive to our inquiries. Definitely would stay here again.

Fall Break at the ocean
We loved the place! Beautiful view of the ocean from the home, balcony and deck. The game room was stocked full of games and books. A folder was provided suggesting great places to dine at in the area and also places for fun and entertainment. We would love to stay again next year! (By the way, as there were no problems with the place we had no need to communicate with the property manager, therefore we only gave that section a 3-star rating.)2

Great location, however very nice house has issues
My overall impression was that of the five Oceanfront homes I had previously vacationed, this was the worse. This nice large home is situated on a lot with great ocean views, however, I was greatly disappointed in some of it issues- unable to open many of the windows (especially the bedroom large glass sliding door and main family area). (My main reason for going during April was to able to open the windows for the ocean breeze.) Of the four TVs, only 2 were functioning in main family area and master bedroom ( in master -only Roku TV remote which had no volume control and unable to locate TV remote to adjust the volume. Although it is not within the owners control, there is difficulty flushing the toilets.

Views are spectacular. There are some upkeep concerns, as in very poor water power on the upper floors and light bulbs are needed in various places. Also, kitchen cabinet door came off hinges; we were able to put it back together. The hoses on the stairs to the beach were not operating and the hinges on deck doors had to be retightened regularly. These r all minor concerns but seemingly need to be addressed before they can’t be. The lack of water pressure upstairs is the biggest issue

* The 10 of us in our family had a great week. House layout was as listed and worked well for us. The beach gear (toys and chairs) in the deck boxes was better than we expected. Water pressure should be stronger; but we knew that from other reviews. Hard water spots, and overall poor cleaning from the dishwasher caused several items to be re-hand washed; we were also was aware of this from previous reviews. The area that keeps us from rating our stay as a five, was the fact that the cleaning crew had hosed the hosts on their duties….so at check-in we had to re-sweep the floors and tumble dry the bed covers to get rid of pet hair. We are certain the hosts were unaware of this cleaning issue. It can be fixed, and we’re sure they will address it with their cleaners.

Would not recommend this home for a large family with elderly or small children
Several things were brought to the owners attention while staying that we received various explanations on but no resolution. The water is very hard and there is no water pressure. The dishwasher did not work well, the dishes were not cleaned after a full wash and had to be hand washed. The upstairs window fell during our stay and we were not able to get it closed. So the upstairs was rather warm. The house has SO MANY STAIRS it’s hard to enjoy. We had elderly parents and small children with us that it just did accommodate us comfortably. Owner needs to consider several things to make the home more affordable. The only perk I found was that it is pet friendly.

Renter beware
This is my first negative review, but we feel it needed to be done so future renters do not face the same situation we did. When we arrived, the house was only partially cleaned. The toilets were dirty, there was dirty laundry and dishes, and there was zero toilet paper in the house. When we informed the owners, they said this had happened the past four times and they didn't bother remedying it. During our stay, a large ceiling panel fell down into the bunk room where the children stay. It luckily didn't hurt anyone, but the owners got mad at us for it because we called them to see if someone could have been working up there to cause it. Also, while we were there, ants infested the pantry. We were told, "Welcome to North Carolina. That's what happens when it rains." We live in NC and do not experience this at home, nor did we appreciate that response. Finally, one afternoon we smelled a burning plastic scent and saw smoke coming out of one of the air conditioning vents. We called the owner and his response was, "What did you do?? You have 24 hours to vacate the premises." We then called the fire department and after their inspection of the house and smell they recommended we not stay there until a licensed electrician verified that it was safe. Given this circumstance, we quickly cleaned up the house and gathered our belongings and left. When we asked the owner to reimburse those final two nights, he refused and continued to blame us and make up stories.

lovely location; well-equipped house
This duplex is very nice and the furniture is more comfortable than other rental properties at which we’ve stayed. The unit is very clean, and spacious, and the kitchen has most equipment you need if you decide to cook - which we did. The dishes are nice - and not plastic! or corelle and there are plenty of them. There are some very pretty decorative touches throughout the house, which added to our enjoyment. The road behind the duplex is great for walking if the tide is in full. All in all, we had an excellent week - the weather even cooperated. The only negatives I would mention are that some of the fixtures are old and showing wear. The showers are quite old, and for older people a little less safe than we would like, and a couple of the kitchen cabinets have peeling laminate. It would be helpful if the keysafe on the door was replaced - since it is hard to open and appears to be pretty old. Oh and the driveway is quite steep - it’s a workout climbing up the driveway if you have walked on Ocean Rd behind the house.
