"We stayed for 2 nights for a special birthday. The communications beforehand were informative and friendly. When we arrived the welcome was warm and the property was lovely. It was exactly as described as well as being clean and well equipped. The outside space was also excellent with a good sized, enclosed and safe garden. "Perfect quiet place for two after several days of city sounds. A few great places to eat as long as you have a reservation. Can walk to everything. Good bakery with espresso not too far. "We (my partner, and my Mum) had a lovely stay here to celebrate my Mum's birthday and really appreciated the treats left for us! Check in was super easy with the lock box. The cottage is great for 2 guests as both bedrooms have an en suite (although the upstairs/loft bedroom doesn't have a door FYI). Plenty of seating in the living area too with the sofa, armchair, and even an electric armchair which came in handy for my Mum! "I cannot recommend this beautiful cottage enough. It was practically perfect in every way. Maggie is fabulous and her homemade Victoria sponge is to die for. You will not want to leave this chocolate box of a cottage no matter how long you stay. Best rental I’ve ever stayed in. "

"Elm Bank is a beautiful cottage in a perfect location in Lower Swell. The listing is accurate, if anything the pictures do not quite show you how large the cottage is. The Welcombe Hotel, BW Premier Collection

"Our Christmas stay at the Welcombe Hotel was a nice break. The mansion is stunning, set in 157 acres of beautiful grounds, and if you’re lucky, you might even spot deer roaming around. The spa was good to have—the indoor pool, Swedish sauna, and outdoor vitality pool made for a nice way to unwind, and the thermal rooms were a nice touch. A very big shoutout to Sara and Muhammed, who were incredibly helpful and always welcoming. Their service really stood out. Breakfast was OK-ish—not bad, but nothing special. Christmas lunch, on the other hand, was disappointing—it felt like a missed opportunity given how nice everything else was. The bar had a good atmosphere, and I liked the local wine, but the overall drinks selection could have been better. Overall, despite the food not being great, the Welcombe Hotel was a lovely Christmas getaway—a beautiful setting, good service, and a peaceful place to relax."
