One of the best hotel stays I've ever had. This unassuming but TOTALLY comfortable and well-appointed independent hotel is a rarity in the U.S.: its furnishings are utterly individual, attractive (NONE of the factory-style comforts/themes of even the best chain hotels) and unpretentious. The staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful. Access to the room where free daily breakfasts are served is 24x7. The room was comfortable, clean and spacious, with a lovely view of a field going back to the horizon. The price was lower than most of the chain hotels in the area. The location was right in the thick of the major sights/sites in the Chadds Ford area: less than a mile from the Brandywine Museum of Art, less than four miles from Longwood, from the Dupont family conservatory, less than six miles from Kennett Square, within two miles of several excellent restaurants.

The reception area was nicely decorated for the holidays. It was warm and welcoming. My friend could sit there for a long time and read and relax. I found the lady at the reception desk to be helpful and courteous. The room was clean and about average. What we did not like was the tub/shower combo. Dangerous for seniors. There should be grab bars to prevent the chance of falling.

My wife and I stayed here when visiting Longwood Gardens. Though the room had some dated elements, it was really well maintained. The bed was comfortable, and we had an enjoyable stay. A short walk to three restaurants and a coffee shop. A short drive to Chaddsford Winery and Longwood gardens. A quiet and convenient hotel.
