Our one-bedroom guest house offers serenity and privacy on the Shawangunk Kill river, surrounded by the natural beauty of local farmland and "the Gunks" mountains. Step outside to soak in the tub, kayak, enjoy a bbq, or gather around the firepit. When the spirit of exploration calls you, it's only a short drive to hiking, biking, and world-class rock climbing, along with wineries, breweries, farms, orchards, cider mills, and many fine restaurants. Perfect
Our stay at the property was exactly what we needed. We live in NYC and needed a quiet getaway to start planning our wedding and this place provided the peace and quiet we needed. It is EXACTLY like the listing says, both in pictures and description….which is rare. All of the extra amenities(hot tub, grill, etc.) worked wonderfully and we can’t wait to go back and unwind at this fantastic property again!

Perfect winter getaway
The red barn retreat far exceeded our expectations. Bill has taken such care over this space, thinking of literally everything a guest might need (including a glorious hot tub overlooking snow covered fields and a stream), and is very kind/responsive. We felt totally secluded from the world but were still close to great restaurants (in Gardiner and New Paltz), museums, and hikes. Highly recommend to couples and small families looking for a getaway on the Hudson.

Perfect
This property was perfect for a relaxing getaway. The photos are accurate; if anything, they do not do justice to the beauty of the property. The location feels secluded and serene, but hiking, shopping, and restaurants are very nearby. Paths around the property provide access to the river, and feel like sometging out of a storybook. My dog loved exploring with me, and following the trails. The "barn" itself is beautifully decorated, and the linens and towels are luxurious and high-quality. The kitchen is well-stocked with condiments and spices, so cooking and grilling was easy and enjoyable. The firepit and hottub were absolutely perfect for hanging out under the stars. Bill, the host, was super responsive and magically appeared with anything we needed only minutes after sending a message through the app. This was, by far, the best VRBO experience I've ever had, and I would not hesitate to recommend to anyone.

All the reviews are right!
Such a relaxing way to end the school year for two teachers (I apologize the Math teacher is writing this instead of ELA). Every review I read before booking is completely accurate. Kitchen was great to cook meals in, the grill as well. Enjoyed listening to the birds and wind in the trees from the bedroom window in a comfy chair. Mattress was so comfortable. A short drive to New Paltz and the beautiful Mohonk mountains.

This adorable retreat is exactly as described. We couldn’t have been happier with every aspect of this place: immaculate, impeccably appointed, and thoughtful amenities that maximizes both comfort and convenience for the guest. Bill really thought of everything, and was so attentive to our needs while respecting our privacy. The hot tub, grill/dining deck, and fire pit are all perfection. One note: upstate NY gets LOTS of ticks in Spring/Summer, so if you bring pets like we did, expect to do a through fur-check before bringing them inside.

Lovely Weekend Away!
My wife and I enjoyed our stay in this property. Perfect for a little weekend away. Dog friendly, very clean and recently updated. Host was very accommodating and gave us great recommendations on hiking, restaurants, activities to do in the area. He had some guest passes we used to check out some beautiful parks & trails for free. Couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. Plus it is dog friendly :)

Incredible experience, great vacation!
We had an amazing time ! The place was exactly as described and even better in person! The host takes care of Every single detail to make your stay enjoyable. The big highlights of this property were the river and kayaks, the non-chlorinated hot tub (new, clean and beautifully located) and the incredible hikes located only 10 minutes away. We are so happy we would definitely make it a yearly tradition!

Wonderful Stay
We had a wonderful stay! The interior looks nicer than the photos and there's so much natural light. Everything was thoughtfully set up for our comfort down to the small details. The birds were so pretty and visited the feeders often. We had such a good time Kayaking! They provided kayaks and it was a short walk to the river shore. There was plenty of space for our dog. The hot tub was exquisite.

Just perfect!
We were looking for a place near by just to get away and recharge and Red Barn Retreat was our answer. Exactly as pictured, private, on a beautiful quiet country road, winery you can walk to, beautiful views, enjoyed the birds. We didn't want to leave but look forward to going back!

Lovely stay!
The property is extremely well thought out. We arrived at night and there were lights indicating where to go and clear instructions on parking. The unit is very well thought out with a full kitchen, bathroom amenities, and lots of thoughtful touches (e.g., robes and slippers for the hot tub). We had a lovely stay and William made it very easy to communicate. Gardiner, NY is a very cute town. We enjoyed Cafe Mio for breakfast, a bourbon tour at Tuthillhouse Spirits and dinner at the new Wildflower Farms resort. The weekend was a great escape to nature and we and our pup loved walking along the country roads (including to the local winery for a tasting!) Can’t recommend it enough - we will be back for sure!

Relaxing Retreat
We totally enjoyed our stay. The guesthouse is tastefully furnished, clean, and super comfy! Wonderful views out every window, we enjoyed watching the birds and even saw a few bald eagles. The house had all of the kitchen amenities you'd have at your own home and was a pleasant place to cook or play games. There were lots of personal touches like cozy robes, blue tooth speakers, comfy blankets for lounging, and even (brand new) slippers. The host was very accommodating and responsive to questions. The hot tub was awesome and the deck and fireplace were perfectly situated for privacy. Close to hiking, restaurants, and a winery right down the road. We will be back!

My husband, son, and I stayed at the Red Barn Retreat while visiting for SUNY New Paltz's Family Weekend. We loved the tranquil setting and various lovely views from the well-equipped second-floor apartment. Before and throughout our visit, our host William was accessible and helpful, providing insights on local restaurants and activities, a bottle of table wine from a local winery, and passes to nearby Minnewaska State Park. It was a short stay, but a great one!

Bill is a great host. Place is well kept and he is very accommodating. Has Peet’s coffee stocked and even had a Bottle of wine on the kitchen table upon entry ! Mentioned to Bill we were going to Minneswaska State Preserve nearby (15 minutes away) for hiking and he even left us a parking pass. Hot tub is clean just like everything else. Kitchen appliances/water pressure all great as well. Would stay again !

This property is absolutely precious! The apartment is newly renovated and has everything you need! We really enjoyed the Peets coffee that was provided! The hottub and fire pit were wonderful and where we spent most of our time. Having kayaks available was also a huge plus. We felt this property did not overlook any of the amenities. Top notch! We will definitely return!
