The hotel is very clean and tidy, however it also reflects the age of the building, so it is not modern and swish but more rustic and practical. What this hotel has is the central location with a short 5 minute walking distance to St Bavo's cathedral and the main attractions/shops. The hosts are warm, friendly and very helpful. If you travel by car, you can drop off luggage on the side road next to the hotel but will have to park closer to the central areas which are not free but not excessive in price. As an overseas visitor, we registered our vehicle online so we were exempt from Ghent's low emission charge. Breakfast was continental style, so I took oat milk for drinks as I am lactose intolerant and it is quite common for establishments not to be fully aware of food allergies or intolerances as was the case in this instance. The City prides itself on being the capital of vegetarian food and there was a very helpful magazine in the room telling you about the vegan and vegetarian cafes/places to eat. Overall we had a great time and from a convenience point of view, the hotel was in a great place to start our exploration. The Mystic lamb painting is not to be missed. Even if you are not religious the size and quality of the painting is something to behold.

Nice hotel in a good location
Clean, comfortable spacious room - a little worn around the edges but what we needed. Very helpful and welcoming staff, and a nice breakfast buffet! A short walk to either the Vrijdagmarkt or the square with the Belfort and cathedral.

Property location is good. Walkable with lot of dining options. The room itself and the property itself is smelly and lacks proper ventilation in bathrooms. It was continuously raining and there was lot of water accumulation just outside the windows. When we accidently opened it, there were bugs which entered the room. My kids and myself had bug bites in the morning, although not serious, it is kind of concerning for the hotel not to weather proof it. Afterall everything is Europe is expensive, but there should be value for the money.

The good stuff: The hotel is in a great location with mostly everything within walking distance. Our room was clean. Staff is friendly and was very helpful in arranging our late check-in. The neutral: There’s no elevator and you’ll have to climb a narrow staircase to the room. Important info for those with special needs. We didn’t try the breakfast so can’t review it. The not so good: It’s an old house and all the rooms are very different from each other which doesn’t have to be bad but it’s a gamble which room you’ll get in the end. Ours was definitely not 237sq.ft / 22sqm as advertised, it was barely half that size. This should have been made clear before booking to avoid disappointment. The bed was rather small for a double room and it had no firmness at all. It was fine for 1-2 nights but if we were staying longer than that I would have looked for another solution. Summary: I would say for a short city trip on a budget you get good value for money and a great location. If you’re looking for something longer and more comfortable I would recommend verifying the specifics with the property in advance.

Large spacious room and great customer service. The small problem was that the heaters were blocked by furniture and could not fully disperse the warmth in the room

Nice hotel
Nice hotel in a good location. Friendly and helpful staff. Room was large but would benefit from some artwork on the bare walls to make it feel less sterile.

Parking was not at hotel but not too far away and secure - cost of 15 euro a night. Hotel was ok a bit tired but clean (although did have hole in sheet) but as only there 1 night didn't mention. Very central to centre though.

Very Noisy and Shabby - Not Recommended
Only major plus I have for this hotel is location is solid and room was pretty big. But there’s likely many other hotels with good location so I would look around. The exterior, interior and furniture all need a facelift. Especially if listed as a 3-Star hotel. This is not 3-Star quality. There’s no fans or window AC so if its warm out the room is very stuffy and hot. Noise was the biggest issue. There’s construction next door and the hotel is on a pretty busy street. There’s almost constant noise even when the windows are closed. Plus the room shakes every time a bigger car goes by. If you are a light sleeper or value a comfortable place to chill after a day or night out, don’t stay here!
