Upon arrival shown to a grubby room, trimmed hair still in bathroom, deck sticky and dirty from spilled drinks. Bathroom got cleaned, after we checked in,however deck didn't. Noisy as by intersection and lots of flashing Christmas lights, No microwave. A coffee plunger, no coffee or milk, took a day to get it. Not our first stay here & things have only got worse each time. I would say the last time staying here, my guest has booked in elsewhere for there next 3 days in Gisborne. Parking & central location the only positives we could find this visit

This hotel needs an urgent refurbishment. It is rundown, very dirty and the decor very dated. They do not even offer Breakfast. I will not recommend this hotel, nor would I stay there ever again.

Had a great time. Beautiful big room. Feedback 1. Took ages for shower to warm up and 2. No signal for the T.V. No phone in room to ring reception for help. Little things though which didn't take away much from overall experience. Highly recommend. Big shout out to Brooke the receptionist. Very friendly, courteous and professional.

Upon arrival, we had to wait nearly 20 min to check-in. We rang the hotel to find the on-duty receptionist, was away doing house keeping duties knbthe 2nd floor then went to freshen up before coming down which I understood. Rooms,, The 1st room, carpet not vacuumed properly, the net curtains are dirty, the window latches are broken, tv remote had flat batteries, dirty utensils and glassware and the carpet at the entrance to the bathroom was very wet. As a result, with no hesitation, the staff offered us another room. 2nd room. Cleaner net curtains but rips and tears, main curtains to big and heavy (full length, ceiling to floor, huge) to draw, window latches broken (one window was locked), dirty utensils and glassware again and the drainage in the bath was too slow, trying to shower, the bath filled quicker than it drained away, quite disgusting to be honest. The staff are very friendly and courteous.

I last stayed at this place 8 years ago. Back then they had a swimming pool and jacuzzi. Now the jacuzzi has a deck thrown over the top to disguise its existence. The hotel has water dripping from ceilings and ceiling tiles removed to limit the water damage. My room had heavily soiled carpet, cracked bathroom tiles, a very loose patio door lock, no lighting near the bed as the bedside lighting had been removed, missing guttering above the patio. Maintenance seems to be completely non existent. I'm told the current owners are Indian. This once impressive hotel is now a disgrace. Quite how the local council lets it trade is a mystery. I'm going to give them a call and see what the story is. On a positive note, the reception staff are delightful. Particularly Brooke. How she manages to be so professional in an environment of mediocrity is a mystery and a credit to Brooke.

Staff are lovely, Unfortunately the rest of the hotel is very very run down and dirty. The photos are nothing like the reality. My room reeked of disinfectant the whole time I was there. The heat pump had to be turned off because it was making a terrible scraping noise. The bathroom vent thats always on and cant be turned off was also making a loud noise I could hear through the wall. The "king" bed was two singles pushed together with different heights. The wall next to the bed was filthy and had feet marks on it and other damage with half hearted patch repairs. The carpet was gross and is very old and worn out with Marks everywhere. When I walked past the pool area there was bird poo everywhere and Pigeons bathing in the pool. Everything needs a lick of paint and new carpet its severely run down. In the foyer down stairs there were buckets catching ceiling leaks. Worst experience Ive ever had and Il never return. Gross, Do better for what you are charging a night. Girls on the counter were lovely cant fault them.

Property is dated and urgent need of an upgrade. The room we stayed in was big and served its purpose for the 1 night we stayed in Gisborne. The front desk staff and cleaning crew were the stars of the hotel. Friendly and welcoming.

Our room had a broken bath, lights keep flashing on and off, the phone to call reception was broken, switches were broken, both bedding covers were stained with oil or noticeable staining. There was no blanket throws for warmth as it was pretty cold in the room. The air con was extremely noisey.

Last visited this hotel 17 years ago. Stayed now for a couple of nights on a conference. Still well run with friendly staff. The decor is showing signs of wear and tear and a general redecoration is needed, together with fixing some chips and dents to the walls. The room was big with a lounge area and an accessible bathroom [not needed for me but good to see for those who need it]. Would is use this hotel again - possibly but I might look for something better
