Glastonbury
Glastonbury is located in the county of Somerset in the South West of England, bordering both Gloucestershire and Dorset. Glastonbury is the perfect location for a holiday in the countryside or a break by the seaside. Somerset itself has many cities, villages and market towns to explore coupled with beach caves and moors.

There is a wide range of accommodation options to choose from when looking for somewhere to stay in Glastonbury or the wider Somerset area. With hotels to suit all budgets and countryside bed & breakfasts you have plenty of options to escape the normal hustle and bustle of everyday city life. Well, that’s true for most of the year, as Glastonbury is also home to the world’s most famous music festival, and attracts some 200,000 visitors to the popular town every year in June.

Dance Your Feet Off at Glastonbury

Glastonbury Festival of Contemporary Performing Arts is a five day music festival that takes place near Pilton on the last weekend of June every year. With some of the biggest names in the world of music playing the festival, this has well and truly put Glastonbury on the map. Accommodation in and around the festival doesn’t take long to fill up, so be sure to plan ahead if you’re visiting the festival in the coming 12 months.

Glastonbury Tor

Glastonbury Tor rises from the flat landscape of the Somerset Levels and is topped by the tower of a ruined 15th century church. The climb to the top is worth it with stunning panoramic views from the summit taking in all that Glastonbury has to offer. History and myth surround the Tor make it an interesting place to take the family. Saxon remains excavated from the site suggest it was once a Saxon fortress. Now it’s a national trust property.

Glastonbury town itself is a nice place to relax over a cup of tea or coffee, with some great boutique shops and artisan suppliers to explore, it makes for a perfect relaxing afternoon.

Explore Somerset

The Roman Baths in Somerset are a must see for any visitor to the area, a site that attracts over one million visitors each year. While you are not able to enter the water at the baths, there are four main areas to enjoy, as well as an adjoining museum, allowing you to take time exploring this popular attraction. With an informative audio tour, you cannot fail to be interested in the history of the baths when you see them and the original Roman architecture.

Spend a couple of hours in the relaxing atmosphere of Wells Cathedral, constructed in an English Gothic architectural style with a stunning façade and 50 metre high towers. Beautifully cared for and used by many you will be impressed by one of England’s great cathedrals.

Somerset has a wide selection of beaches to choose from including Kilve and Berrow both perfect for children to enjoy with miles of golden sand to play in. Weston Super Mare Beach complete with its own pier provides a great family experience. Plenty of rides for the kids and a train journey to the pier end for those who would prefer not to walk it. When in Glastonbury take the family for a trip to the seaside.

Unique place with still a few historic buildings. The Tor was lovely to visit and so was Chalice Well gardens. The Rifle Inn pub had reasonably priced drinks and friendly staff. Bocabar restaurant had amazing fresh/tasty food and a must visit!

It’s quirky, small and won’t suit everyone (not the place to go for a shopping trip unless you want incense, crystals and Tibetan singing bowls) but it has a wonderful esoteric charm. And the view from the Tor is breathtaking
