A Message to Our Valued Renters:
We’re sure that you are experiencing more stress than you would like in these uncertain times.
A great spot to just relax and enjoy the view. Our renters agree that the photographs don't do it justice. A large great room has floor to ceiling windows overlooking the bay, and has a stone fireplace so you can watch the sunset or sit by the fire. The kitchen is very well appointed and includes just about everything the chef desires except the food. There is a full laundry room with a washer and a dryer. No need to waste hours at the laundromat. The rec room includes a ping pong table, games, video tapes, DVDs, and satellite TV as well as a cozy stone fireplace and a seating area to relax and enjoy the fire or the spectacular view of Frenchman Bay. The children's bedroom is furnished with a full/twin bunk bed, a twin size bed, and a Pack n Play. In addition there are two beautifully furnished bedrooms with queen-size beds. There is a queen size sofa bed in the great room, another in the rec room, and two comfortable inflatable beds which each sleep two adults.
The home is located about 35 minutes from Bar Harbor, the hub of activities on Mount Desert Island and gateway to Acadia National Park. Bar Harbor offers dozens of restaurants and shops and also kayak and bike rentals.
Hikers who prefer less crowded trails will find that nearby Black Mountain and Schoodic Mountain offer gorgeous panoramic vistas of lakes, ponds, Frenchman Bay, and the Porcupine Islands without the large numbers of hikers found on the better known trails of Acadia.
Winter Harbor, just 5 minutes away, offers galleries, shops and dining, all located in a quaint lobster fishing village with a picturesque town harbor and dock. A passenger ferry runs numerous trips daily from Winter Harbor to Bar Harbor. Lobster pounds abound, and two are located within a couple of miles of the house. Swim and fish at nearby Jones Pond or Donnell Pond at the foot of Schoodic Mountain. Kayaks can be rented in nearby Birch Harbor and kayak tours can also be arranged.
The entrance to the Schoodic Section of Acadia National Park is a few minutes from the house by car or bike, and is a beautiful 'secret' spot which is visited by only a few of the thousands of visitors to Acadia.
