"We were upgraded to the family room, which was great, the only concern was going up and down the steep staircase having to access the kitchen and bathroom, and there is no TV in the bedroom. Something I did not see mentioned in the reviews I looked at was that the nearest shops are 20km away, in Ysterfontein."

Was too much effort early mornings to trek kms away for our paid breakfast so we didn't have any. "We arrived late at the property after a 6 hour drive, the owner refused to open the door, told us she had no booking, despite us having booked and paid through expedia. We were turned away with no where to stay at night with no phone data to find another place to stay. A terrible experience. The place appears very much to just be the owners house rather than a proper guest house. "

Things lacking… no wine opener to open a bottel of wine for 3 nights… apparently there is only one person who has one and they were off on the weekend… shower door doesn’t close so bathroom floor is very slippery… chair in room broken… no generator so during load shedding, no lights/tv/etc in rooms.
