It was a beautiful view and the food was hit or miss. The staff were nice. It seemed expensive for what we got. A full day cruise is the way to go in my opinion. Definitely not 2 nights. They make you get off the boat for 8 hour doing ? Then you repeat the previous days activities.

I like the cleanliness and the service but the spread of food was rather average. No basic drinks like water and tea and coffee were provided during lunch.

We booked the Silversea Cruise on the recommendation of friends who had been on it only weeks before. We thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff went above and beyond to make our trip special. We couldn’t have been happier with our trip!

Great experience but not much cruising
My partner and I opted for the two night cruise staying in the boat. What to expect/included - Great food and service all included in the price. All drinks are extra!! - Trip to local Pearl Farm with a canoe trip and then trip to Ti Top Island which has a small beach and views across the bay if you’re willing to climb the many steps to the top. Both trips included and last about an hour each. - Fantatic views of Ha Long Bay from the boat and your room but there are many other boats about and both mornings breakfast is served at 6:30am, so early start. What I’d do differently - A couple we met opted for their second night in a beach bungalow on a small island. This sounded a lot more relaxing that our first full day on a smaller day boat for 8 hours. The food was poor (chips and salad) and the boat was too small to cater for all passengers to have a sun lounger on the top deck. - We did have a tour of some local caves on our first full day which was interesting but after that just visited the same places we’d already been the day before. If you can, insist you stay on the main cruise boat as it’s clean, more relaxing and better if you just want to spend the day relaxing in the sun. I think they want you to vacate the boat so they can pick up the next load of passengers but I can’t see why you’d need to vacate the boat. I would also like to have seen more of Ha Long Bay. The boat didnt really travel too far from the main land and visited the same areas.

Tour guide was good, hotel room is clean and tidy, but booking of the shuttle bus with the cruise to and fro the port to our hotel in Hanoi city centre was difficult as no one responded to our email.

Nice boat
Generally well run, good food, reasonable price drinks. We had a suite but it was really just the same room with a very small balcony and small spa bath instead of shower. very disorganized at the port as we arranged private transfers in a limo for $30usd return rather than there over inflated prices, I went looking for staff to find out what the process is, they certainly weren't looking for us. Unfortunately it's really busy everywhere you go, the canoeing is very restricted to where you can go, we missed the sunset. The cooking class was only making rice paper rolls, not really a cooking class, just a how to roll a rice paper roll.

Silversea Cruise
It was a pleasant and comfortable stay with Silversea cruise. Our guide/host for the cruise - Mr Lucky was professional and knowledgeable and he made sure we were well-informed and taken care of onboard the cruise. The cabin was clean and the meals (almost like dining at hotel) aboard the cruise were excellent. Other than that, i think the activities were similar to other cruises.

Overpriced (cheaper options from hanoi streets)
Overall good experience. Very similar to phang na in thailand, which has nicer water. Very regimented timetable, sun goes down early. Only got 15mins in kayak due to 1hr late pickup. Minimal swimming time also. Our guide Sonny was an absolute gentleman, and very helpful and extremely cheerful with great english. 30 min stopover to/from bus is annoying. As was the waiting time to leave the boat and then again for bus to arrive. Worth a look, but like I said, overpriced. Sister went on a smaller boat and paid more, said mine was better. Ti-top lookout was worth the effort and the best part of the trip. Staff on boat more interested about alcohol sales than customer experience.

Great rooms and staff.
Some sites were cramped with tourists but still not as bad as suggested in other reviews. I never felt rushed by my guide at all. Highly recommend the 3D2N. I think the extra things we did were less crowded and more fun. For instance we kayaked on a second more beautiful location and the kayak was better (no barnacles on the bottom) and we could go wherever we liked. The caves were also just our group until right at the end.

Very nice indeed. Only problem was, although they have wifi, there is no Internet! People who had bought SIMS for their phone had good access, and their Wifi had a telephone Internet dongle connected - yet it just didnt work. Strange. The conclusion? Buy a SIM at the airport. Hope they take down the offer of free Wifi as it is misleading.

Clean, reliable cruise plus good foods.
Prefer in future, that Silversea Cruise provides a detailed itinerary before we make the booking. We have no clue what is provided in the package and was made aware of the itinerary after we boarded the ship. If we knew the itinerary, we might decide to stay two nites on the cruise rather than one nite's stay. We missed out on other activities like kayaking or sitting on small row boat. The transfer from Hanoi to Halong Bay was a bit chaotic (luggages were put on aisle) and was charged separately (USD 10 per pax for return bus rides) and not inclusive vs other vendors. Overall, foods and services were good to balance the shortcomings.

Average
This is an average cruise all up. We got stung with an extra charge to take us to the port and back from Hanoi which their website said was included. Don't count on wifi if you need it for work. I would try to book with other operators. Best to book in Hanoi once you get there. Plenty of cruises available you won't miss out!

Some serious issues
Pick-up and drop-off service was terrible as its provided by some sub-contractor. Reckless driving with endless honking, even hanged deal from hotel drop-off to old quater drop-off. Suggest organise own transport. Tour guide is there yet unsure guiding what. Nothing really provded apart from saying "we will meet you here in 1 hour" Ship and crew was nice however try too much hard sell on drink. Made me promptly skip tipping by conveniently not mentioning extra charge for coffee for every meal.

Ok but no kayaking
We originally booked Silversea but they moved us to La Vela. Nice enough. Service was good but no one seemed to really know what was going on. Room was ok but bathroom needed some attention. The main reason we booked was kayaking, but found out whilst we were on the cruise we they don't do it. Sort of ruined it for us We

Great modern boat.
The quality of the accommodation on the boat amd food provided was excellent. The tour itself is quite quick ( we did the 1 night) but highly recommended. I would select this boat again. Worth paying a few extra bucks for the delux room, very special.

Go Silversea and you cant go wrong
Halong Bay is amazing and you must come and see if you are in Vietnam. Silversea cruise is for sure one of the best in Halong Bay, you can see straight away by comparing the boat with the other companies. Room and bathroom was amazing, clean and comfortable, with quite a lot of space. We booked 2 days 1 night, got pickup from Hanoi with a 9 seat minibus, trip to the bay is 4h with break in between. By 1 pm we were on onboard and cruising. Food is restaurant quality, tasty, abundant and always well presented (Lunch, Dinner, Breakfast, Snack). Silversea cruise pays more for taxes so it can go more far than other cruises, this means that you can kayak and swim in quiet waters, the majority of other boats goes tot he same places. Staff is super friendly and helpful. I cost more than the others, true, but is totally worth it.

Not the best but good enough
This is my 2nd time to Harlong Bay, but first time on Silversea Cruise. The engine of the boat is kinda noisy when it is moving when you are in the room.. The bus (Ard 30 seater) is cramp for those who are bigger size than Vietnamese, so the 8 hrs journey from Old Qtr to Harbour and back might be a torture. Everything else was good.
