The location of the property is amazing right in front of Lake Ashi. Beautiful views and close to trails and historical areas. The hot spring spa (onsen) are very nice and clean. The hotel itself is old and a bit dated but still worth it.

Awesome Hakone Stay
The hotel is impressive, very well maintained in common areas. There is a very nice lounge with great views. The location is phenomenal, you can see the pirate ships moving about the lake. The room was very spacious and had an amazing view. The on-site public onsen also had a great view. Note that if you do not get dinner on the property most restaurants in Hakone closed at 4pm it seemed (assuming guests are staying at a Ryokan?).

However, the hotel would benefit from some modernisation, for instance aircon in our room could not be individually regulated/turned off. The hotels is very peaceful. There is nothing like ending your night on the grass while looking at the Mt. Fuji sunset. We loved our stay. They even included kids skippers. The onsen has Mt Fuju views depending the day you go. The rooms are big, I recommended the water view.
