Cassidy Homestead Guest Cabin
Welcome to this quaint rustic locally owned and operated cabin located in the small hamlet of southern Hall. The cabin sleeps 6 comfortably, and was built by homesteader Carl Cassidy in the early 80's. His skillful primitive aesthetic and use of recycled materials gives the cabin a feeling it was built in the 1880's. The cabin has recently been remodeled from basement to roof: new electrical, plumbing, flooring, kitchen, bathroom, and appliances. A spacious 280sqft covered porch was added onto the back of the cabin.
The Cabin sits on what remains of the original Cassidy homestead along with the main house and several outbuildings all constructed by Carl. Flint Creek, one of Montana's blue ribbon trout creeks, is located 50yrds from the property. Just across Hwy 1, is the township of Maxville. The charming turn-of-the-century town of Philipsburg is a short 11min drive. Discovery Ski Area and Georgetown Lake is just 35min away.
The cabin has two stories; main living down and one large single bedroom and bath up. The main living area is open concept consisting of a living room (with a double bed futon couch), stone fireplace (firewood included), dining area, Smart TV, WiFi, and a fully functional kitchen.
The kitchen is well stocked with an assembly of cooking needs including a microwave and coffee maker. The back door leads out to the new covered porch that overlooks the homesteads old apple orchard. You will find a new gas barbecue, a large picnic table perfect for family gatherings, and a couple of Adirondack chairs for relaxing and taking in the scenery of the property and the surrounding mountains. A rock built fire pit sits out front of the cabin for those nightly gatherings of roasting marshmallows and making s’mores.
Upstairs is a large single bedroom with twin bunks, a double bed, and completely remodeled bathroom with tiled shower. A private balcony is accessible off the bedroom. If there's a need for another guest past 6, a sleeping cot is available at an additional $25 a night.
The cabin has its own private drive and is surrounded by a new gated post and pole fence. The area is perfect to let your dog out for a quick break if you decide to bring them along ;) The property is dog friendly and a small fee of $25 per dog is required if you decide to bring your four legged friend(s). Payment is due upon arrival: cash or check.

Fantastic cabin nestled into the mountains. Very central to Missoula and Butte, good hiking and fishing minutes away. Well set up cabin with all the amenities.
We enjoyed the rustic cabin stay - very quiet there. Easy access to hiking although we had not brought tick and bear spray so would for next time. Would definitely stay again. Nice to have a bit of yard so the dogs could be off leash. Would have liked to have stayed longer. Never turned on the tv, enjoyed visiting Phillipsburg, the entire area is beautiful.
I was so amazed at how the cabin was built and decorated. Absolutely beautiful. Very cozy and quiet. Will definitely make this a stay. Hope to be able to stay longer next time. Thank you so much.
A charming, cozy cabin nestled near the base of the mountains! If the Northern Lights are dancing, you will see them here- far away from any light pollution. Situated near several hiking trails and fishing streams, this cottage is perfect for a weekend getaway! I would recommend this property!
We had the most amazing and magical time at this cabin over Christmas. Bob was so responsive and friendly. The cabin was so cozy and clean and just magic.
This was a great find for an overnight stay on our way from Yellowstone to Seattle. It was the perfect size for our family of four, and we loved its coziness and the fact that it was so well appointed with a fully fitted kitchen and bathroom with a great shower. It looks good too, with a nice attention to detail and artistic touches. My favourite part was sitting on the swing on the upstairs porch in the evening, enjoying the view towards the mountains. Wish we could have stayed for longer!
Home was beautifully crafted so you felt you stepped back in time. All the amenities and very comfortable. Decks to enjoy the quiet country surroundings, the sounds of the creek running. The host was excellent on communicator with us. Unique experience.
Bob's cabin is a treasure, the kind of place you want to keep a secret! It is very clean, cozy, huge fireplace, beautiful setting and uniquely appointed. He has the cabin well set up for cooking at home, plenty of pantry room for guest supplies. The bedroom closets are empty (not cluttered with miscellaneous things) with ample shelving and hanging space for guest. We found good snowshoeing across the highway. Philipsburg is only 10 miles away while Discovery Ski Area or Georgetown Lake are a bit farther but easily driveable.
Would highly recommend this property. Bob was very helpful and kept great communication made sure our stay was pleasant.Place was great for our dog and was fenced in and had items available for both humans and dogs. Our check-in went very smooth considering we arrived late at night.
