A bit old fashioned but well maintained hotel. Bed is very comfortable although I slept on the sofa bed. Lobby is very cozy and the the introduction of the history of the 3 generation family business is a highlight.

The location is very convenient, close to everything. Room is clean, mattress is a little too firm for me. The mini bar is at my head level, I bumped my head and bleed!

Are hotel guests really dispensable?
I have stayed at the Baslerhof many times in the last 15 years, it was always my hotel of choice. But last weekend that changed when I was curtly reminded by the Reception Manager, after bringing to his attention that I’d been waiting an hour and 20 minutes for a bottle of water to be delivered to my room, that I was not the only guest in the hotel. Well, there’ll be one guest less from now on.

Nice Hotel in a Great Area
The Hotel Baseler Hof is a nice German hotel in a great area. The rooms are small but comfortable, but the rooms of those in my party lacked modern conveniences such as irons, coffee machines or air conditioners or fans.

Perfection attempted and nearly completed! The staff is amazing, even for someone like myself who does not speak German, they were extremely polite and helpful with suggestions, translations and directions. Well done! One slight surprise was the bathroom, one of the towels had a stain on it and for a big guy like myself, 6 ft tall and 225lbs (182cm and 100kg) the shower was a little small. Other than that, the bedding superb, the amenities excellent, the lobby bar and lounge very inviting. I wish we could have stayed longer than two days. 10/10 recommend!

The room was very clean but small. Felt like I was in a closet but that is normal for a room in Germany The location was great. In the center of the city, 1/2 block from U1,2 and 3 subways which can get to just about any point in the city. Also, just a few blocks from the main shopping district in Hamburg, and plenty of restaurants to pick from Tip don't pay 22 E for breakfast when you can walk just 5 or 6 doors down and get a very nice breakfast for 6 or 7 Euros. Bottom line yes I would stay here again Hotel is very clean, safe, and in a perfect location to base your trip to Hamburg

Old World Charm
The hotel had old world charm, especially the lobby/bar area with roaring fireplace and Christmas tree. The rooms were modern and comfortable . Location was excellent, very near Christmas markets. There was some construction going on near our room, but we were awake already when they started.
