Location is good. but hotel is not as expected
Not as expected in a touristic area.. staff does not speak English at late night and lights are so dimmed.
I arrived the hotel late evening, although I had a booked confirmation they didn't not have me on files, I had to beg and plead to get a room. The staff doesn't know one word in English, and was not able to help. I went in the morning to the gym (in another building), all the building was power off and I had to search in the dark. When I got back to the room, there was not boy water !
No hot water !!!!!!!!
Restaurant served terrible food
Don't go there, sleep in a car if you have to, it would be much better
Very comfy hotel but difficult to get back via taxi along the lake. Many taxis but no one stops to pick up. Maybe the hotel should invest in a shuttle van for "on call" pick up. Buffet breakfast was a little lacking for western type serving.
The location is not near the West Lake as it looked on the map. The staff did not speak any English, which we expected in an "International" hotel and had a difficult time understanding our confirmation and pre-pay situation. It was further from the train station and we had a difficult time getting a cab. The restaurant is not "western and chinese" in my opinion and wasn't even open at 8pm when we arrived. Since there are no decent places to eat near, we went to be hungry. The room was old and very loud. Hotel was not near full but you could hear doors slamming all around and the dogs in the adjacent housing area barked all night. Do not recommend for non-chinese.
There is no hot water in the room. Room is dirty, bathroom is too old and no maintenance. There is no hot water in the room. There is no hot water in the room. There is no hot water in the room. There is no hot water in the room. There is no hot water in the room. There is no hot water in the room.
The breakfast here is quite good with a variety of Chinese and Western choices at the buffet. The service is prompt and friendly. Spacious rooms with varying views in a fairly quiet area. The exercise area is located in a building next to the main building and is reasonably equipped. The setting is very lush, near two tunnels and within comfortable walking distance from the south portion of West Lake, the Hangzhou Zoo, Silk Museum, Jade Emperor Hill, and the Leifeng Pagoda. During the rush hour it was difficult to get a taxi especially when I stayed there on Children’s Day. Also the taxi drivers seemed to need a little extra instruction on the location of the hotel. However, it is a great base to take walking or bicycling tours of a very scenic area. As is often the case the hotel name in Chinese is not the same as the English translation so having the name in Chinese characters, as usual, is helpful for taking a taxi.
I've stayed in many hotels around China and this was by far the best hotel I've stayed in... Usually we stay in cheaper hotels, but we've also stayed in a few more expensive ones. All in all, Hillview was awesome and made the rest of my family's stay in China a disappointment because the hotels in the other cities were nothing compared to this one.

Restaurant Service
there was a big problem with the restaurant and services... servers don't speak english, and don't understand us when we asked for the menu; they brang us the BILL!!!
When we asked for a tiramisu, they brang us a BROWNIE and in their opinion, it was absolutely normal...
Then, it was difficult to have a correct diner!!!
We reserved 2 rooms at this hotel. One was in great condition and beautifully appointed. The second one was quite disappointting. The room was much smaller without a separate bathroom as the shower and toilet were in cubicles. Even worse the floor around the shower an toilet was rotted away and this hotel is only a couple of years old! We tried to get another room but we were unable to get it changed. To make matters worse the location was such that most taxis refused to take us to the hotel because of the out of the way location.
We were upgraded to a really beautiful room, it was in the second building and I would highly recommend staying there. The hotel staff did not speak much English and it was hard communicating with them, this was the hotel's greatest downfall. The hotel has a good restaurant which is quite lucky as its at least a 20 min walk to the lake front where other options are available. Bicycles are available for rent; however, the deposit they require is astronomical.

my opinion frankly
First, thank you for following up and hear the opinions and feelings of your customers, this indicates that the paper on your dealings with us.
Second my opinion the hotel is good, quiet, clean, and all the staff and workers in the hotel are working with all they can to the convenience of guests, but I was having some disadvantages such as, far from the city, does not have the swimming pool and it's disturbing was the presence of mosquitoes. This is my opinion frankly.
Thank you again
In short excellent. Stayed for 3 nights. Good location, got my train tickets booked right at the hotel, when I needed a taxi to go anywhere, it was arranged for me by reception at short notice. Enjoyed it here!
This hotel is located within comfortable walking distance of XiHu (West Lake). I could jog to the Leifeng Pagoda in about 12 minutes and the National Silk Museum is a two minute walk and the approach to Jade Emperor Hill is about a five minute walk. The room was spacious and well equipped. The area around the hotel is hilly with deep, green scenery. The air conditioning seemed OK though it probably did not do much to remove the humidity in the room. Also, although the hotel's book talks about their fitness area it seemed that they only had a massage area. Overall I enjoyed this hotel and remain suprised at how low cost it is given the location and the room.
Although the facilties were very nice, and the staff accommodating, it was impossible to get a taxi to take us to the hotel (unless you were willing to pay 100 yuan, when taxis should be using the meter for no more than 20 yuan). During the day, the road outside the hotel became one way down the hillside, and it was then extremely difficult to get a taxi from the hotel. We did a lot of walking...

Nice and spacious room with comfortable
Nice and spacious room with comfortable bed. The hotel is a bit far from the Lake, Hangzhou's main attraction but the concierge is very helpful and able to get us taxi. If you know how to take bus K12, you need only a 10-min walk back to the hotel. Bus fare is only RMB2.0.

THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND THE UGLY
THE BAD: We booked the room understanding that we were getting twin beds. We were told there were no twin beds available and we would have to accept one king bed. After several discussions and no way of finding an alternate hotel my 32 year old daughter and I agreed to share a bed. Then we were told that the credit card that [...] accepted to book the room was not accepted and had to be deleted and another used. Asked for toilet paper since there was only a small amount in room. Didn't receive any until the next morning when I physically brought a maid in to show that we were using their kleenex.THE GOOD: Came back to the room after touring to find a bowl of apples and bananas. Lots of amenities. Good mattress. Friendly concierge. THE UGLY: My experience with this booking.
