Visit this mountain resort in the Bernese Alps for year-round adventure sports, family friendly hiking and festivals such as an international cheese championship.

Discover a myriad snow sports, hiking routes, biking trials and food festivals on a vacation in Hasliberg. This traditional mountain resort lies in Haslital in the glorious Bernese Alps. Its picturesque setting against a backdrop of snow-capped mountains conjures up images of a mystical fairytale.

Hasliberg consists of four villages: Goldern Hohfluh Reuti and Wasserwendi, which spread across a verdant mountain terrace. Each is home to an assortment of hotels, self-catering chalets, cafés and restaurants. Wander the twisting streets, breathe the fresh air and marvel at the dramatic surroundings.

Ride the cable cars from Reuti and Wasserwendi to Mount Hasliberg, where seemingly endless miles of ski runs and hiking trails await. Go skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing and sledding, both during the day and at night. Practice freestyling at the Skicross Park. Kids can have fun learning to ski at the Skihäsliland.

In the summer months the mountain is a haven for nature lovers, walking and mountain biking. Visit the peaks of Läuber, Rothorn and Glogghüs on the Three Peaks Tour. Stroll through pine forests and meadows of wildflowers on the Sunny Trail. Learn about the legend of the Haslital dwarfs on the Muggestutz Dwarf Trails.

Refuel at the mountaintop restaurants, many of which boast al-fresco dining areas and panoramic views. Indulge in some après-ski entertainment at bars and live music venues. Visit in September for the Bernese Alp-Cheese Championships, held at Mägisalp. Enjoy cheese tasting accompanied by traditional Swiss folk music performances.

Take the cable car from Reuti to nearby Meiringen, a town made famous by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes tales. See exhibits on the fictional stories at the Sherlock Holmes Museum. Catch a funicular to the 394-feet (120-meter tall) Reichenbach Falls. Walk along a footpath that passes through caves and tunnels at Aare Gorge.

By car, Hasliberg is about 30 minutes from Interlaken and less than an hour from Lucerne. Getting here is easy by a combination of trains and cable cars. Rent a car and drive here via scenic roads such as Nufenen Pass and Susten Pass, which are only open in summer.

"A bit of a walk, but it is a very nice walk and the views are spectacular. Breakfast was also a must. Very well done hotel and cosy reception. Lounge area is also very relaxing. I had an issue with a bathroom leak in the shower but it probably not common, I let the staff know."
