The Captain’s Retreat is a perfect spot for nature and water lovers. Relax at this peaceful place surrounded by conservation-protected woodlands and swamp. Well located to explore nearby attractions but experience serenity and quiet in the Carolina Lowcountry (19 mi to Bluffton, SC; 26 mi to Hilton Head; 21 mi to Savannah, GA).

Pet and family friendly. Three-bedroom, two full baths with a recently renovated master bath and walk-in shower. Spacious private backyard. Strong wifi and cable TV by firestick. Washer and dryer are in the utility room. Baby and beach gear available for rent upon request.

Kayaks, canoes, and boats are welcome and enjoy the nearby Savannah River, May River, or Calibogue Sound. The Captain’s Retreat is located in Purrysburg near the Savannah River with two boat ramps within approximately a mile—Beck’s Ferry and Mill Stone Landing. There is a place to launch a canoe or kayak in the Savannah River within short walking distance. The Savannah National Wildlife Refuge with hiking and walking trails are nearby (Argyle Island; Kingfisher Loop and Tupelo Trail approximately 10-12 miles away).

Awesome Stay
We came to watch a Savannah Banana’s ball game for my fiancés birthday. The house was not too far for us from there. Very spacious and slept the 7 of us comfortably. We went to the beach our second day, again close enough for a great time. I would definitely stay here again!

The house was great and we loved the quietness of the dead end street it was on. So quiet and serene. We sent messages to the owner and she answered back right away. She was extremely friendly and courteous.

Great place to stay..only problem was linen left in the washing machine and in the hamper. Also found blood on 2 of the mattress covers. Would recommend this vacation house to everyone.

Great place for dogs but needs a little TLC to make great overall
This property is great for dogs as it is away from pretty much everything. Closest other house was about 200 to 300 yards away and out of site. Master bedroom and master bath are excellent and recently redone. The second largest bedroom did not have space to put clothes and it was a bit difficult living out of our suit cases. The existing drawers had the owners stuff in them. The furniture was comfortable and the kitchen was adequately equipped with fairly new appliances. The owner was great to communicate with, but the property manager never returned my call. We were told we could get an air mattress for the 6th person but that never happened so we had to buy one (2 people were single adults). The only way 7 people can sleep here is 2 to each bed and one on the sofa. There were not enough sheets or pillow cases 7 people, especially with an air mattress. There are plenty of pillows though. Great for a family if your not expecting perfection (we were not). Anyone with a dog should know better :). We were just glad to find a place that would allow dogs!!

Secluded stay, not far from bigger cities
My family and I enjoyed our stay here. The house is secluded and surrounded by woods, which we loved. I spent some time observing many species of birds present. The house is about half an hour away from Savannah and Hilton Head. Most of the grocery stores and restaurants we went to were about 15-20 minutes away, but worth the drive. We liked that the property was pet friendly, as we brought our dogs with us. We really enjoyed the Okatie Ale House restaurant, but be prepared for a wait if you choose to go there!

We chose this rental because they were dog friendly, and it was perfect for what we needed. Cell service is spotty, but with Wi-Fi being available, we didn’t have any issue. The kitchen has new appliances and is fully stocked with pots/pans/utensils.

The best home away from home
If you’re looking for a cozy place that’s just like home, especially if you travel with pets, this is the place. Everything you can think of for a stay was provided. All we had to do was pickup some food essentials from the grocery story. The information binder was a great resource for recommended restaurants, grocery stores, to how to use the tv, thermostat, etc. and the history of the property. The yard is very spacious and was fantastic for our dogs to roam and explore. The neighborhood was great for extended walks to wear out them out before heading into Savannah. Everyone wanted to stay longer and we cannot wait to come back and visit again.

Enjoyable Stay!
We enjoyed our stay in Brandy's home! Our dogs had a great time running around the large yard all week! We didn't see a single critter other than a deer in the woods! The reference to gators and snakes applies to those who go to the river, which is not bordering the property. We were working remotely, and the wifi was excellent! Our cell service was spotty, but we just used wifi calling, and we had no issues. I love to cook, and I found the kitchen to be very well stocked with pots, pans, utensils, and bowls. The appliances are newer and are in great condition! Brandy and her property manager Tam are so kind, caring, and responsive. Brandy texted us to see if we needed anything, and Tam stopped by to check on us as well. This is a new rental, and Brandy is working hard to ensure that her guests have a positive experience. The home is very convenient to both Savannah and Hilton Head. It's a perfect home base for anyone wanting to visit those two areas. Thanks, Brandy and Tam!

The house was neat & clean and exceptionally presented. It was quiet and tucked away. It rained a lot when we were there so we were happy that the comfort and appeal helped us to adapt. If you're looking for a nice quiet getaway, this is a very nice choice.

I was pretty disappointed in the rental. We arrived to the home which is definitely in a country setting. Tons of frogs, owls, bats, lizards, snakes and even gators. I can live with the outdoor creatures/setting (just keep an eye on your small dogs if you are bringing them and keep them on a leash) however inside was definitely not up to par for a rental! Light switches were malfunctioning and the one in the kitchen which turns on the light in the laundry room wouldn’t even work. (They have a short in them) The house needs updating from holes in the ceiling to painting the trims around the doors and flooring looks like it was just thrown down in the kitchen snd laundry room. The vents are full of dust and need to be cleaned. The coffee pot was filthy and still had coffee grounds in it. The door on the pantry had fallen off and was just laying against the wall. There was only 1/4 roll of toilet paper in one bathroom and none in the other. We had to go to the store to get paper towels, toilet paper, laundry soap, coffee etc., (basics) which we assumed would have been provided. The water was turned off to the washing machine which took us awhile to figure out and since there were no Instructions on how to use the washing machine it was a pain but we figured it out. Verizon phone service doesn’t work in this area and internet kept going out so WiFi is sketchy. Everything in the house is outdated so we didn’t attempt to cook while there or use the kitchen supplies that was there because it didn’t look very good. There was dirty laundry left in the hamper when we got there as well. Overall I give it a 3 stars. We never did hear from the owner during our entire stay until we sent her a message about the internet which she did respond. She did say to contact her friend however with no service it was a tad difficult to contact anyone lol

Peaceful Retreat
The property is very cozy and quiet. The property has everything you will need for a nice getaway. It is close to Savannah and Tybee Island. The owner communicated well and even checked mid stay to make sure everything was good. Make sure you pay attention to owners directions as GPS will lead you straight into the river.

Secluded getaway with a fantastic yard
My family of 6 traveled to this property. The house was amazing inside. We especially loved the story and the pictures. I felt completely at home, everything was easily accessible and available. The yard is what definitely drove me to this place. My 4 kids ran around outside in between our trips to Tybee and Savannah. The house is at the end of the road so no worries about traffic. We had a little issue with the door lock (my husband locked the wrong lock) and not even 5 minutes later it was fixed and we were good. Thank you so much for the opportunity and the experience.
