This is a great place to stay.
It is a beautifully remodeled historical building in a desirable area.
The staff are very friendly and helpful.
The hotel is lovely, breakfast was good. There was no air conditioner and fan would only run on 1 setting, the other family staying there had the same problem and it was a very hot evening so we really battled to sleep. Staff were friendly.
Great location very comfortable and good food in restaurant only complaint was reception not very knowledgeable but they did try to help with questions but always had to get their supervisor. Also were unable to provide me with a plaster. Waited 40 mins for iron.
Great service and comfort. However, rather disappointed at their opaque pricing. I booked 2 short stays, the first I paid up-front, the 2nd opted to pay on arrival. Even though I paid at the end of my first stay the daily rate for my 2nd stay was almost double the 1st!! They sited their 'flexible pricing' based on occupancy.
To prevent any nasty surprises, make sure to pay at the time of booking!!
The staff are very friendly and helpful.
The food is excellent.
I am very pleased to see the hotel rejuvenated and, in doing so, maintaining the history.
Excellent stay!
Having last been here 30 years ago, it's great to see that the hotel has been renovated and updated yet still maintains the atmosphere of the old hotel. Will be back for sure.
Nice decor, comfortable bed but not very cosy, more geared towards functions and corporate.

A comfortable stay but spoilt to a degree by a "'thudding" noise in the ceiling area that started during the night. this kept us awake and it was too late to request another room. we were in room 414.

Good Rooms, Terrible Food
Rooms are beautiful. Food is borrible. Paid R295 for a horrible buffet. Would have rather got MrD for way less.
The hotel was lovely except the Aircons were not working and it was SO hot and uncomfortable that we did not sleep well at all.
We were on the 5th floor, and I noticed the higher you went in the hotel, the hotter it got.
We would love to stay again but I don't see that happening on hot days, we were so looking forward to spending time in our room and relaxing but that unfortunately was not to be.

Disappointed and lie
Very disappointed. No pool!! Pictures show 2 pools and they say they are in order. We came specially for that and relax. Instead we sat down on two garden chairs on a dirty patio.

Price does not meet expectations
The room rates are what would be considered "expensive" in South Africa. The room I stayed in was in serious need of a makeover and beyond understanding, had no bedside lamps or a convenient plug. Bar service was very good. Restaurant service was quite amateurish.
Staff are always smiling and willing to assist where they can. We had abit of an issue with our ventilation system which was unable to be sorted out during our stay so the management kindly re imbursed us without us having to overtly complain and argue about it. I felt that was exemplary service and for that reason I will definitely recommend them for a stay and will be sure to book again if the need arises that I am in the area again sometime. Well done to the team. My only recommendation if I can, is to improve the breakfast buffet variety as I overheard other guests suggesting the same. And also to pay attention to halaal food cross contamination like placing meat products in the same Bain Marie as the vegetables etc. Rather keep the meats and vegetable options completely separate so it’s safe for us to eat. Similar to the way the southern sun hotels do. But overall a good vibe and feel to the hotel with pleasant staff and clean surroundings. Thank you
