Cozy Country Farmhouse Along the Catskill Scenic Trail

Come enjoy a relaxing time in our cozy renovated country farmhouse located in the beautiful rolling hills of the northern Catskills. We're only about 3 1/2 hours from New York City, but are truly a world away!

For your group of six or less, our house has three bedrooms, 1 full bath and 1 half bath with a fully equipped kitchen featuring both a modern gas stove and a 1926 Glenwood cookstove. There's a dining room for evening meals and a cozy table by the wood stove in the kitchen. This is a house where you can put up your feet and just relax!

You'll find that our house is the perfect location for exploring the outdoors...whether by a walk or a bike ride on the Catskill Scenic Trail, a day trip to Cooperstown, or a night-time bonfire in the fire pit on the hill above the house. Or maybe you're just looking to relax? Settle in with a good book you picked out at one of the local used bookstores or watch that movie you been saving for a quiet day. So...lots to do if you want to....but only if you want to!

This is the perfect home for a weekend getaway. The home has everything you need and is surrounded by beautiful landscape. Enjoy fresh eggs gathered on the property. The location allows for many visits to local and exciting areas in the Catskills.

Wonderful experience!
We had the best time! The house was clean with comfy beds, it had all the basic supplies we needed, and had a few fun games to play and interesting books to read during the evenings. The views were beautiful and we enjoyed exploring/walking on the property. The house was close to the bookstores in Hobart as well as delicious local restaurants. The Rich Farm farmhouse was a great place to stay. 😊

Quick trip
We came for a quick trip to visit the book village. The house was great! Very close to town, and we’ll stocked and very clean. They have beautiful walking trails behind the house as well. Would definitely recommend.

My husband and I, along with our dog, spent Labor Day weekend at the Rich Country Farmhouse. It's a perfect escape, and the house is extremely comfortable. The owners have thought of everything to make your stay easy. The surrounding area is beautiful and all in all, it's a perfect getaway spot.

Cozy farm house with a wood stove kitchen
The perfect getaway farm house, we had a short stay but planning to come back. The wood oven kitchen stove was the star of the weekend, we cooked all our meals there and they came out delicious. ( I am a chef and very experienced cooking with fire) and yes the fresh farm eggs were a plus.

Thank you for the lovely place to stay! The farm house is very nice, comfortable, and super clean. And Georgie is soooo friendly we wanted to take her home with us! The trail access is top notch. The walk from the farmhouse to Stamford is a great afternoon 12-mile stroll, with llamas, horses, lots of birds, cattle, etc. to see. Thanks again!

So Relaxing!
The property is absolutely amazing. When we arrived there were a dozen farm fresh eggs waiting for us in the refrigerator. The eggs were so yummy we purchased two additional dozen to take home with us. The farmhouse is beautifully decorated with lots of charm. We really enjoyed reading about its history and learning about the Rich Poultry Farm. Can't wait to return for another relaxing weekend!

Wonderful Stay in Hobart
We had a really nice trip to the Catskills planned, and had a great time at Barbara's home. The home was easy to find, the directions she gave were very thorough, and everything was clean/organized upon arrival. What questions we had prior to arriving were answered promptly and thoroughly. We had everything we needed for ourselves and our little baby, and were even able to use the grill and walk around the property. The access to the Catskill Rail Trail cannot be beat, and it really is a perfect property for anyone wanting to get away for a few days. Unfortunately we had to cut it short after one night due to a family emergency, but Barbara was very understanding and gave us a refund for the days we were unable to stay there. This was incredibly generous, and we definitely hope to be back soon.

A wonderful stay in the farmhouse
We spent six snowy days in the farmhouse and it was delightful. The house is every bit as pretty as the pictures illustrate. It was as neat as a pin when we arrived. The family who lives next door made a point to give us our privacy, but was available if we had any questions. I would add one thing to the online description. This is a beautiful part of the country. There are mountains all around with beautiful old barns tucked between. Behind the house is a gorgeous trail that allows you to pass by some extraordinary scenery complete with shaggy horses in the field , friendly cows waiting at the fence and ducks swimming in a pond. It was perfect!

Jan 1 - 6, 2008 I stayed at the cottage with an old friend after having been in Manhattan for a week; and it was a wonderful contrast! We weren't sure how warm the cottage might be; but on the second day it was -20C and we were perfectly cosy inside! The cottage is kitted out with everything you could need; lots of kitchenware, towels, clothes washing facilites...it's a home from home. Apart from exploring the Catskills, we had two days of skiing at Hunter, which was really fun. There are several other ski areas nearby, but I was recommended Hunter before leaving; it is about 45 easy drive away. Also; we were impressed with how well the roads are cleared of ice/snow....we had no problems getting about. Thanks for a really lovely stay!

Exactly What We Were Looking For -Retired Couple
It was exactly as advertised which we loved. No surprises, no change in the furniture and good reading lamps. The setting is so pleasant and should be absolutely beautiful when the leaves start to change. We sat out front and even started waving to the neighbors passing as the week progressed. George took a couple of days to get used to us but eventually even joined us for breakfast, bringing his own! Woodchuck in the back, which we did not recognize as we are from the south. The family is lovely, friendly and will give you space if needed. We enjoyed all of them, the family, the house, great towns to visit nearby and dairies where we watched cheese being made. The walking trail is very accessible as is Hobart. We will definitely return.

Hobart, Catskill mountains. We found it though through Internet. After we spotted the place we contacted the owners Barb and Rich. Their response to our request was so hospitable and kind that we decided to go there. It was around Christmas. When we arrived we appeared to have a stylish and atmospheric tree in the living room. It was such a cosy cottage, or farmhouse. In every way it was beyond what we expected. The interior of the house appeared to be in everyway comfortable. Upon arrival we saw the house was covered with snow, a beautiful place in a winterish environment. After Al Gore winters have become scarce in the Netherlands, so all the more happy we were to have one in New York state. We arrived late at night and were not aware of what we might expect. The first day we decided to explore the railroad track behind the house, a former railroad offering a wonderful opportunity to make long distance walks. Snow everywhere and a wonderful white world. The next day the snow rapidly melted, but the beauty of the environment remained unspoilt. We walked long distances along roads in the vicinity. The house offers much comfort. It has a great kitchen with opportunities to cook in either traditional ways on a wonderful stove, or in a highly sophisticated modern natural gas stove. The rooms are decorated and furnished in a way you would like your own house to be like. In the middle of a traditional environment you experience the comfort of the 21st century. The animals we met ( the chicken and Georgie, the cat) showed a paradise like coexistence. Eleanor and Scott, our neighbours, were stand by to support us whenever things would be not the way we had expected. Price-wise, hospitality-wise, opportunity-wise, whatever-wise, we recommend this place. Catskill Mountains and Hobart offered us a memorable experience. Jaap van Lakerveld Barbara Muller
