A fantastic place to stay. Real Colonial Tasmania. 1835. Beautifully maintained, very comfortable, step back in time, great location, & delicious continental breakfast. Loved staying there. Highly recommend. True taste of Tasmania’s past. Would definitely stay there again.
An interesting building. It is a bed and breakfast run by an elderly couple.
The building is one of the oldest in the town.
The place was full of all sorts of collectibles mainly china but some interesting pictures.
It is just a short walk from the town centre and a pub with food just slong the road.
Nice and helpful staff. Very quaint hotel and worth staying at. Only one issue _ room was very clattered . It needed less furniture and artefacts and it would still be very much in character.
Loved the thought that it was built in 1835, Lydia was lovely and very helpful. She was happy for me the use the washing machine, something I really appreciated. We had a lovely two nights there, bed very comfortable. Can highly recommend it
Fantastic, friendly host. Great old building with heaps of character and charm. The rooms themselves have all your need for a comfortable stay.
Decent breakfast included.

Adequate
Quaint old world B and B. Owner very accommodating, room a little crowded. Breakfast provisions lovely. The cleaner obviosly forgot to clean the toilet and it needed a little extra TLC.

Lovely. Nice and quiet. The room photos online don't do the rooms justice. Homely.

Antique and homey
The Colonial Inn was full of antiques and old stuff. The room was quite cluttered and very hard to open the small window for fresh air, the bathroom window was painted in. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom clean and newish with the shower hot. The breakfast was cereals and quite sufficient. The hostess was lovely and chatty. It wasn’t our type of place with the antiques and cluttered furniture but otherwise very convenient to the town for dinner and a base for exploring.

If you like antiques and staying in the 1800's it is a good place to stay. Owner was very friendly, breakfast was good. Not to everyone's taste.
CLOSE TO WHERE WE WANTED TO BE (VISITING THE FESTIVAL THE NEXT DAY)
THE OWNER WAS VERY HELPFUL ANSWERING OUR INQUIRIES ABOUT LOCAL RESTAURANTS AND LOCAL INFORMATION. BREAKFAST WAS EXCELLENT AND WELL PREPARED
Not many places like this in Australia. A historic inn with only 4 rooms but with all the facilities that are needed for a comfortable stay. Very comfortable bed. Walking distance to town centre and dinner options. Good breakfast with excellent coffee.
The Inn exudes old world charm and this is backed up with old school, personal service and hospitality. Close to town centre and to the Derwent river bank views and walks.
You won’t do better in New Norfolk.
No cooling + heat wave. Welcoming and considerate hostess. Not to my style.

Old Colony Inn
Very quaint establishment. Building is 200 years old and while the rooms reflect a bygone era they are clean and comfortable with updated bathrooms. Our host was friendly and professional and we enjoyed conversation with her. There was minor traffic noise as our room was closet to the road but really not a problem. The very reasonable tariff included a light but plentiful breakfast. Happy to recommend.
This inn is more then meets the eye. The owners also have been collecting prices of history and the 5 rooms on the ground floor are filled with fascinating items that they were happy for us to look thru. The accommodation upstairs is old world charm befitting the era. The beds were very comfortable with fluffy doonas. Lots of hot water for showering. The breakfast was very generousl with homemade jams. Even though we elected to walk to the pub, Lydia offered us dinner, which on reflection was an excellent option.
Lydia and James make you feel like part of the family. Rooms are comfortable and well provided, complimentary fresh fruit, Port and Sherry in every room. Breakfast was included during our stay. Dinner was reasonably priced and very tasty. Wine and Beers also well priced with a nice selection. Would definitely stay here again.
