"Lovely old building with pleasant grounds but the unit lacked a great deal. Firstly, no air conditioning on a 34 degree day is a huge problem for anyone. We had to ask for a fan and leave windows on ground floor open all night in order to get some kind of sleep. NOT IDEAL for safety. Kitchen facilities were lacking, no chopping/cutting board, no sharp knife to cut anything, no microwave heating bowl, slow oven top, no egg spatula or tongs, no toaster. "Nice rustic hotel. Room very spacious and full equipped Location is good Cleanest is good Reception is good. The only problem was the shower door which was very difficult to open and close - must be fixed. Special thanks to Suzanne for instructions. Room 1002 WiFi is ok Because of that 4*. I hope it helps. "Le propriétaire avait suspendu la location de son appartement jusqu'au 31/12 mais Expedia à accepté la location. Très bon contact avec la propriétaire qui a essayé de nous trouver une solution 5 heures avant mon arrivée. Service Expedia complètement NUL ils n'ont même pas pris la peine de m'appeler pour me proposer un autre hébergement. Très déçu. "

"Superb location for Charleroi airport, 5 minute car ride. Here on business and it was a nice stay. Clean big rooms, friendly staff and high level cuisine in the restaurant. I even came back in the same week as needed to stop one more night near airport. Highly reccomended and my go to Charleroi Airport stop over."

"Have stayed in a number of Mons hotels whilst i vacated my apartment in the town. This included 2 stays at the van der valk during October 2024. This time in room 103 for a week, nice big clean room, shower only. Very convenient for getting to my apartment and into the centre of town. Didn't use parking or breakfast. IKEA is 10 mins walk away and do a hot breakfast for a few euros. Also 10 mins walk to cafes etc. Van der Valk is easily best hotel in Mons, happy to recommend "

"I'm vacating my apartment in mons so have been staying at a number of local hotels. Stayed in room 113 for a week. My only negative is no aircon which would be a nightmare in the summer, they do supply a big noisy fan. Perhaps B&B who are new owners will install aircon? Other than that it was an excellent stay, free coffee downstairs 24/7 and a room with a bath. We didn't bother with breakfast as plenty of shops/cafes in Mons. Very comfortable bed, i slept very well. Would recommend the B&B centre mons (ex lido). There is a launderette just up the street, open 24/7, tokens on sale for machines inside"

"I'm currently preparing to vacate my apartment in Mons after a few years working in Belgium. Stayed Saturday night at the B&B Mons Gare room 207. The young man on reception was incredibly helpful, Joffrey. Our room was very large with a bath. There were a couple of wedding parties in but we had a great nights sleep. Breakfast was fine with some hot options for us Brits. I never used the hotel when it was run by IBIS but would recommend. We didn't have a car but the car park looked easy to use. Not in the best part of Mons but we know the area well."
