Idyllwild is GORGEOUS with it's "Yosemite-esque" granite rocks. The Taquitz Pines Retreat was the perfect venue for my nephew's wedding, with it's beautifully landscaped grounds & numerous "cabins" to accommodate all the guests. The property was immaculate and our room was clean & felt spacious with the exception of the somewhat tight shower stall & pretty small vanity sink. Now here is my real "critique" of our room #37. The thermostat control had a mind of it's own-it kept doing whatever it wanted no matter what we set it to. Finally we just turned it to "Off" which worked for awhile, but then in the middle of the night it turned back on & was blasting us out with heat. We asked others in the wedding party if they were having issues also, & they said they couldn't figure it out either. The other problem was there was only 1 mirror in the room & it was over the vanity sink. Just a little 11x14-ish mirror which was so low both my husband & I had to lean over to see the tops of our heads. We also had to wait for each other to finish with the sink in order to be able to see ourselves in the mirror, which was inconvenient while trying to get ready for a wedding doing make-up, hair, etc. (Suggestion: a full length mirror in the spacious room would be AWESOME!) Last suggestion: a few coat hooks, please! People bring coats to the mtns & we had to toss them on the (thankfully clean) floor in a corner. The closet only had 3 coat hangers, which we used for our clothes.

The only problem I had during my stay is that at night while trying to sleep I kept hearing a loud noise that kept waking me up. Not sure what the noise was but it was a bang every so often.

The property was absolutely breathtaking. So many beautiful views throughout and the amenities were great. The rooms were clean, spacious. Would definitely consider returning. The office staff was very sweet as well. We visited the onsite restaurant twice during our stay which had really good drinks, their food was average considering the price point. Staff was kind to both us and our dog, even remembered us from the night before, however restaurant management seemed very overbearing and was a bit on the rude side.
