Experience some of the finest fishing available in the Outer Banks at Jennette’s Pier. Learn about the region’s history in the pier house. The pier was completely rebuilt after major destruction in 2003 when Hurricane Isabel blasted through the area. With support from the North Carolina Aquarium Society it is now an eco-friendly education center and a sustainable fishing hotspot.

Walk the 1,000-foot (300-meter) concrete pier and watch fishing professionals and beginners cast into the sparkling water. See schools of small fish gathering at the posts as you wander from end to end. Catch a flounder or a blue fish using fishing tips from the Jennette's Pier’s Ethical Anglers. Learn to fish responsibly, as these volunteers are encouraged to help guests with catching, releasing and cleaning fish with an emphasis on being eco-friendly.

Explore the pier house, where you’ll find a gift shop, restrooms, aquariums and educational displays. Study the region and its ecology via the displays and small fish tanks in the pier house. Learn from the many graphic panels located inside the pier house and along the pier. Notice the wind turbines spinning above the pier’s wooden deck. These Bergey Excel-S turbines provide enough energy to cover almost half of the pier’s needs. Additionally, photovoltaic cells on one of the shade pavilions convert sunlight into electricity to run the pier’s lights at night. The pier house is free to visit. Purchase a one-day, three-day, weekly or annual fishing pass. Walk the pier year-round for a small donation. Find free on-site parking outside the entrance.
