We all enjoyed the rural location away from the "hustle and bustle". Very relaxing to watch wildlife and have time to socialise with friends.

JOHN DAY FOSSIL BED MONUMENT HUB
We spent three days traveling throughout the three JDFB units and it was really great to be able to stay at the Lake House at the end of the day. Cool crisp mornings. Blue sky’s. Everything was as expected and we appreciated all the special appointments. Well stocked and cozy. Thanks!

Lake House
Lovely home, well appointed with all one would need in a house. Lots of thoughtful “extras”. A lovely porch and yard that looks out on acreage and a pond, perfect for breakfast coffee. Exceptionally quiet and peaceful for evening rest. The hosts were wonderful to work with.

Cozy Lake Home
The John Day Lakehouse was the final stop on our 10-day road trip around OR. It did not disappoint! The house was super cozy & accommodating and the small lake with the paddle boat was super fun. We named the Muscovy Ducks “Matilda, Gisele, & Esmeralda” because of their exotic existence and totally loved watching them. Our 11 yo said the Lakehouse was his favorite place out of the four places we stayed throughout our 10-day adventure.

Fantastically relaxing
We had a few hiccups (one of our party showed up an hour early, and there was a fire on the driveway in) but otherwise the stay was terrific. Six friends, old and new, reconnecting for a long weekend of meteor hunting (even with the enormous moon) and county fair food. The home is lovely, plenty of room and comfortable for everyone. The porch is a highlight! Best lounging I've done all summer.

Best place ever
A sheer delight inside and out! Staying here makes you smile. Very comfortable, easy to move around, and so clean. Everything you might need, just where you might guess it to be, and no clutter. Then add in the lovely property with pond, wildlife, porch and covered patio. Even with the 100+ heat wave we enjoyed our stay immensely.

Peaceful Getaway
We had a fun July 4th weekend with the family. The house is beautifully decorated, clean, and had some nice extra amenities: bug sprays, coffee, fruit, and s’mores. The kids really enjoyed the paddle boat, roasting s’mores and all the fun mood lighting. They even saw a giant fish (catfish?) in the lake. The adults enjoyed biking and hiking uphill on the property, the outdoor BBQ and playing corn hole while listening to music on their big Bluetooth speaker. We would come back again but bring our elderly mothers next time.

Country cozy!
We really enjoyed our stay at the Lakehouse in John Day. The hosts have really thought about and provided everything you would need for your stay. We were rained out of a lot of the sightseeing activities we had planned, but it was fine because we had such a comfortable and cozy place to stay. Woke up to deer across the lake on our last morning, fell asleep and woke up to birdsong each day, and were entertained by the resident ducks roaming the yard. Thank you for a wonderful stay in John Day!

Amazing property!
We have used vacation rentals from Arizona to Hawaii and this property was one of our favorites! The house setting was so relaxing and inviting, the house was clean and stocked better then any I’ve stayed at, and the privacy and scenery were amazing! I would 100% recommend this stay for anyone wanting a break from it all!

Cozy nature retreat
The expansive grounds provide privacy without borders. From the house ducks to local geese, a herd of deer on the far hill, cows up one of the trails. The house is spacious, beds are comfortable, kitchen is roomy and the outdoor firepit and charcoal grill are inviting, complete with supplied smores kits. Jack the black lab seriously didn't want to leave this place.

Best VRBO we've been to!
This was the best VRBO we've stayed in! The house was perfect, it's beautiful inside and clean! They really put a lot of thought into what a renter might need/want and it was greatly appreciated, it really felt like a home away from home. It was extremely comfortable, kitchen was well stocked (with utensils and appliances), they had a great selection of games (indoor & outdoor), movies and books. They had a guide to the town (we stayed 3 days and didn't leave the house once, John Day is a small town but looks like they have some cool things to check out). Not to mention the property in general was gorgeous, it was big and open, private and insanely quiet (it's been a loooong time since we have been somewhere without at least a little road noise). They had some resident ducks on the property that were fun to watch. I can not say enough good things about this place. Go if you are really looking for a relaxing, peaceful getaway! You won't be disappointed! We are excited to go back!
