Plage de Kaa Nuë Méra (Kanumera Beach)is a beautiful beach that curves gently around the Isle of Pine’s attractiveKanumera Bay. Its stunning scenery ranges from the clear water of the PacificOcean to sparkling white sands and lush forests. Plage de Kaa NuëMéra is a place to relax in the lap of nature and discover a rainbow ofcolourful sea life.

The beach is popular with day-trippers and cruisepassengers, yet rarely feels overcrowded. Enjoy a stroll around thecrescent-shaped bay and feel the soft sand run between your toes. Gaze outacross the water and admire the forest-clad headlands. Occasionally, you maysee island residents paddling around the bay on fishing pirogues, which aretraditional canoes. Check out Rocher de Kaa Nuë Méra (The SacredRock), which is accessible via a small strip of sand.

Be sure to take a rejuvenating swim in the beach’scool, safe and shallow water. Look down to see brightly coloured fish and coralreefs. Bring snorkelling equipment and explore further and deeper. Lucky visitorsmight spot a sea turtle.

The beach’s image of a tropical bliss is enhanced byits limited facilities. If you are hungry and haven’t brought a picnic withyou, visit one of the island’s two small resorts, which have restaurantsserving light snacks and freshly caught seafood. The nearest resort is within 1mile (1.6 kilometres) of the beach.

Plage de Kaa Nuë Méra sits on thesouthwest corner of the Isle of Pines, the southernmost island of the NewCaledonia archipelago. It is just a 10-minute walk from the island’s main ferryand cruise port, located at Plage de Kuto (Kuto Beach). Get here by catching aferry from Nouméa, on New Caledonia’s main island.

With a consistently mild climate, Plage de Kaa NuëMéra is a year-round destination. Rain showers are common from December toApril while temperatures are cooler during the winter months.
