Enjoy a vacation of adventure spots, history and culinary delights at Kappl. Explore an extensive ski area and hike through picturesque mountain valleys. Admire a legacy of architecturally impressive churches and experience the talents of celebrity chefs.
Kappl sits in the Paznaun Valley of the Western Tirol and is framed by the Samaun and Verwall mountains. The major attraction is the Dias-Alpe Skigebiet, a mountain station accessible from the village via a cable car. From December to April you’ll find over 25 miles (40 kilometers) of runs ideal for skiing and snowboarding of all levels. Go snowshoeing, backcountry skiing and hiking through snowy forests. Ride the 3.7-mile (6-kilometer) long toboggan track and practice freestyling, at the Alblitt Fun Park.
Discover activities and attractions geared toward children and families at the station’s Sunny Mountain Adventure Park. The park features a ski carousel and tubing run in winter and a petting zoo, picnic gardens, rope bridges and zip-line in summer.
Summer at Kappl’s mountain station offers the chance to explore magnificent Tirolean landscapes bathed in sunshine and piercing blue skies. Hike and bike along trails that traverse green valleys and fields of wildflowers. Fish at the Sunny Mountain Fishing Pond and play tennis on mountaintop courts.
After a busy day of activities, indulge in Kappl’s après-ski entertainment. An assortment of bars, cafés, nightclubs and restaurants stretch from the village streets to the mountain station. Visit in July for the Culinary St. Jacob’s Way, when four celebrity chefs serve traditional dishes at restaurants located on scenic walks.
In the village itself, check out striking architecture, including the 14th-century Church of St. Anthony and Rotweg Chapel. Appreciate the artistic talent of Austrian sculptor Johann Ladner at Kerker Chapel and Ruestein Chapel. Walk to some of the 90 hamlets set in the village’s surrounding countryside.
Get to Kappl by catching a train to Landeck, from where public buses continue to the village. Collect the Silvretta Card from your accommodations for free summer use of cable cars, lifts and public transportation, among other benefits, in the Paznaun Valley.
