Beautiful property with everything you need!
We throughly enjoyed our time at Jim and Kepi’s property. The unit was very well appointed and decorated beautifully (Kepi painted many of the art pieces herself!) Location was great and we all loved our time there. We would definitely stay again.

Uniquely Hawaiian
Lovely spot. Beautiful grounds. Unique Old Hawaiian motif. The owners put their love and pride into their units. I think there are 3 -4 units in the home but all were not occupied, so it was fairly quiet. The frogs block out any noise at night. They were very loud, but we loved their sounds! It could use a deep cleaning, and newer spices, condiments, and pans, but for the price it was a good value.

Stay on a budget
The place was in a great location on the Hilo side of the island. Clean except excess dust on the walls from the ceiling fan. Asked the hosts for recommendations a couple times of places to see but never got a response from them. There wasn’t a mention of lizards inside the house be there were many. Thank goodness my friend didn’t see them ( I scared them off)or we would have to had to move or stay. Over all for the price we paid us was worth the money. It was quite and peaceful.

A month in paradise!
This was a great property and location to escape from Midwest winter for a month. There is so much to do. Lots of off-the-beaten track adventures and ever-changing landscapes. The hosts have thought of every detail--outlet strips and sound machines in the bedrooms, lots of cookware, dishes, and glassware in the kitchen, a beautiful garden and patio area, and beach towels, chairs, noodles, etc to enjoy your beach time.

Felt like home, except in a beautiful tropical jungle.
My wife and I and her best girlfriend stayed in the two bedroom unit for almost a month. It was wonderful !!!!! Kepi and Jim were great hosts. They told us of places to go and things to do that greatly enhanced our stay. The beds were comfortable, the place was clean, the kitchen well equipped and lots of equipment for your day trips. (snorkel, boogie, picnic...etc.) The grounds are spectacular!!!! Not only will we stay again, but will work around their availability to do so. Mahalo Jim and Kepi.

Everything was easy and beautiful. The turtle house was very unique and the gardens were amazing. Did not miss AC, never turned the TV on, and the frogs/roosters at night didn't bother us. Owners were wonderful to talk to!

Relaxation on the Big Island
Our stay at Jim and Kepi's Honu House was a little slice of paradise! It feels so remote and rural, yet is an easy 20-minute drive from Hilo. Check-in and check-out were super easy. Jim and Kepi's home is behind the property, and they were pretty much always available to answer any questions and to share great recommendations for things to do and see and where to eat. They are just lovely people! Good to know is that two of the rentals are upstairs, so need to carry your luggage up. And there are roosters crowing at all hours of the day and into the night, which didn't bother us in the least. Coqui frogs singing will lull you to sleep! We really enjoyed our stay and hope to return one day!

Warm and wonderful
Just loved this accommodation. The hosts are warm and welcoming. They are around to answer questions and have conversations. Very lovely people. Loved the artwork and layout with a private veranda and two bedrooms. Enjoyed the geckos for company. However, the sound within the building travelled. Not soundproof. There are dogs and roosters on neighbours’ properties that can be quite noisy even through the night. The singing coqui frogs are quite loud at night as well. Earplugs were used. In spite of these issues, we had a memorable and enjoyable stay.

Perfect location
Outside Hilo town and just a short distance outside Keaau, this home is super clean and comfortable. The kitchen is fully stocked with all the tools you need in case you run into flood warnings like we did. We stayed warm and dry and had beautiful views from every window. Getting into town to pick up groceries required just a short trip, and the local grocery store stocks choices for those with gluten-free and dairy-free needs. I look forward to staying here again when I'm on the island visiting my mom.
