Check out the mythical sea creature that lies at the center of the park. The kraken’s multicolored tentacles whirl and loop throughout the park, creating beautiful arches and spirals. Kids can explore the five different sculptures of sea creatures, which double as interactive fountains.
Get drenched by a water cannon and duck below the curtain of water sprayed out by the jets. Beneath the pirate ship crows’ nest, an umbrella fountain sprays a fine mist across the play space. Watch as the playground is transformed into a glittering wonderland under the cool plumes of water.
While the kids are playing, adults can keep dry on the spacious timber deck and watch the action. The deck has a picnic area and barbecues. Grill a picnic lunch and enjoy the magnificent views of Keppel Bay. Alternatively, take advantage of Keppel Kraken’s proximity to Yeppoon’s town center and visit one of the nearby cafés or restaurants.
Keppel Kraken is situated on Yeppoon’s foreshore in the heart of the town. This downtown attraction is free and designed to suit kids of all ages. The aquatic playground is open daily during sunlight hours, except for Tuesdays when it is closed for maintenance. Yeppoon’s year-round mild weather makes this a fantastic spot to visit in any season. Stroll a short distance north to find the lifeguard-patrolled waters of Yeppoon Main Beach or walk south to reach the grassy play areas and picnic grounds of Appleton Park.
