The place is quite rundown. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel unless you have very low expectations. Even though mine are already low, a few things prevented me from getting a good night’s sleep:
1. A strong smell of dust and humidity
2. Old and noisy indoor and outdoor air-conditioning units, regardless of speed or settings
3. No soundproofing
4. No light blocking
Other inconveniences:
1. No wardrobe
2. The shower is basically in the room, separated only by a glass wall
We booked 3 nights stay. For the price of rm200 per night, we expect the hotel to be better.
- Wifi was not working.
- Hotel carpet is so worn out and unpleasant to walk on.
- Bed linen is not very clean.
- Extra blanket and pillow are chargeable.
- Hairdryer needs to be requested.
The hotel has the first elevator since 1963 (or so). Old is fine as long it is functional. We pressed level 3, the lift went up and down and eventually we ended up back at ground floor reception area. Imagine being trapped inside.
Smelly room and bathroom. Dirty carpets, still had rubbish thrown around in the room from previous tenant when I entered. Limited TV channel options. Room took a while to cool down with air cond on.

my second time stay at this hotel..no newspaper provided to room and breakfast is served ala carte whether nasi lemak or mee goreng..very different from the first experience staying at this hotel. the roof was leaking on the first floor stairs and uncomfortable for customers.
Don't judge a book with the cover. You might not look at hotel merdeka when you pass by it, but the interior, it's total contrast. Book this hotel for your next trip, you will enjoy it
If you are golfer or just looking for a sleeping p
A bit noisy, can hear neighbour talking. Bed sheet, carpet dirty, last guest or cleaner did not flush toilet after used, can say poor house keeping. Simple breakfast operate by a group of teenager at the front desk.
Merdeka hotel carries a historic aura which can be found in its building, interior, staircase etc. Its elevator is the first in Kluang which signifies its traditional yet prestigious standard. A comfortable hotel and I would choose Merdeka Hotel again whenever I'm in Kluang.

I was disappointed with the empty breakfast table and cold coffee at 9:30am.
The room was dirty. The coffee stirrer left there was used and was not changed. Dust can be visibly seen everywhere. The Towel was dirty, bed sheet was equally bad. The bed was soft. No fridge, bad wifi, unable to connect at all. The lobby lift was really antique, my children would rather take the stairs, was a horrible experience taking that life. The epic was the aircocn, it was dripping water and whole carpet was wet. we called for room maintenance, and the solution was to switch off the aircon for ten mins. But that did not stop the dripping. We ask for a room switch as we were unable to sleep in that moist room. No family room available, no connecting room. We were left with no choice and change to premier suite.
one king bed and a sofa. my poor son need to bunk on the sofa bed, he is only 7...my hb, daughter n me squeeze in the King. and FYI we are a family of 4 and the amenities in the Premier suite only cater for 2 person. The breakfast was horrible, you can forget about eating it. COLD and there is nothing to eat...
