Go sightseeing in Constance Harbor and you will be greeted with some of the city’s most engaging attractions, surrounded by views of the vast lake. Stroll along the piers and sidewalks looking for yachts bobbing in the water and dinghies sailing out for scenic trips around the shore. Bring your camera to take photographs, as some of Constance’s most iconic sights are found here.
The first place to stop on a walking tour of Constance Harbor is the mighty statue of Imperia. This 30-foot (9-meter) sculpture depicts a scantily clad woman holding two smaller men that represent secular and ecclesiastical power. Watch the mighty statue rotate on its pedestal once every 4 minutes.
Examine marine creatures up-close in Sea Life Konstanz. The center contains different aquariums and climates that house more than 3,500 animals. Observe piranhas and fall for adorable penguins. The tanks here also contain sharks, turtles and many more animals.
Rest in total tranquility in the Stadtgarten. Formally arranged flower beds decorate the quiet garden, which looks out onto the lake. Children can enjoy a play area within the garden.
Spend the evening being entertained in the Konzilgebäude. Admire the exterior, which features a sloping red roof over bright white walls. The building, which was a granary when it was first built in 1388, today has a dual function as conference center and concert venue.
Visit the harbor in August to take part in the Constance Lake Festival. A program of live music and dance culminates in an impressive fireworks display set to music.
Take a trip on one of the boats in the harbor. Several companies offer excursions out onto Lake Constance. Skim across the water of the lake, which runs along the borders of three different countries.
