Gabarier's house in the historic heart of the medieval village of La Roque Gageac

Nestled at the foot of the cliff, in one of the most beautiful villages in France, overlooking a loop of the Dordogne and offering an exceptional view of the Dordogne, on the castles of La Malartrie and Castelnaud.

Restored with respect for old stones, the house can accommodate 4 to 5 people and has a terraced garden.

On the ground floor, direct access by a first flowered terrace equipped with garden furniture where a lime tree allows you to eat in the shade, an open kitchen with cantou and a living room in exposed stones.

On the 1st floor, a large comfortable and carefully decorated bedroom, facing south with a splendid view, it has a 140 x 200 bed, a large wardrobe and an old chest of drawers, a large bathroom with bath and WC.

On the 2nd floor, a bedroom also facing south with the same view, with two 90 x 200 beds and storage units, a bathroom with walk-in shower and a separate toilet.

Direct access from the 2nd floor to the second terrace of the lawned garden, equipped with garden furniture and allowing access to a 3rd wooded terrace at the foot of the rocks.

The exceptional setting of this house makes this place a choice stop located in the heart of the major tourist sites of the Périgord Noir.

Amazing gem in the heart of the town
This property is for true lovers of authentic historic homes. It is funky, cute, cozy- all at the same time. It has lots of character , squeaky floors, antic furniture. Views are of Dordogne river and hills beyond. It is at the quiet end of town. The house is equipped with everything you need, including washer machine. We couldn’t ask for better experience . Highly recommend

Disappointed with the quality
For the price I paid, I was disappointed. It is indeed a beautiful building in an amazing location, but the interior of the house is quite basic - and in some cases doesn't match with the listing. It doesn't sleep 5 (unless you squeeze 3 people into a queen bed) and there's no hot tub (it's a bath). There is only comfortable seating inside for 2 people (unless you can sit around a dining table all night). The bed linens look like they've been used by hundreds of people before and are part polyester. I'd expect this in a cheap hotel or hostel, not in a house at this price. Cleaning supplies provided also looked like they'd been used by hundreds of people too - two dirty sponges and just enough washing-up liquid to get through a few days if we watered it down. The house gets ludicrously hot in the height of summer, so you have to keep the shutters closed during the day, meaning you get no fresh air and a stale smell builds up. If you open the shutters when it cools outside (which you'll need to do, as there is very little light in the house even with all the lights on), you'll be eaten alive by insects. Dead insects then build up in corners of the room in their hundreds as the days go on. The property manager was very helpful when the fridge broke on the first day, he replaced it first thing the next morning. Fantastic location - lots of cultural things to see.

A place with history and charm
My husband and I truly enjoyed our time at the Gabarre’s House and we loved the homey feel and unique quirkiness. The views from many windows and the terrace please the eye and spirit and the house made us feel like we were part of La Roque Gageac rather than tourists. The host’s responsiveness was impressive. Merci!

Perfect location, full of character.
The house was beautiful full of character. Top terrace was perfect for watching hot air balloons in the morning and evening. Bottom terrace great for lunch and breakfast and people watching. We spent the week on the river, exploring all the great sites near by. Some great restaurants to eat and drink. Our host was brilliant very helpful and lovely to talk to. Highly recommended

Family vacation in La Roque Gageac
We spent a fantastic time at Le Roc Gegeac. The apartment is very good, centralt but quiet location. A beautiful view and a small garden with terrace invite you to linger. The apartment is equipped with all the essentials. Shopping facilities, restaurants and are within walking distance. In the surrounding area are numerous excursion destinations.

Schönes Haus in wunderbarer Umgebung
